The campus operations role at Uplift Ascend Preparatory is a vital position that focuses on maintaining a safe, clean, and efficient environment for students, school personnel, and visitors. The position also requires attention to detail for deep cleaning jobs, including window washing, power washing, floor maintenance, and high-level cleaning activities requiring ladders or lifting equipment. Additionally, candidates will engage in non-routine maintenance tasks such as painting, light repairs, inventory management, and responding to emergencies promptly.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Minimum 2 years experience in janitorial service or building maintenance
  • Ability to read and understand English
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks including lifting up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to use custodial and basic office equipment
  • Ability to work in various environmental conditions including extreme weather
  • Ability to operate smartphone and basic computer software
  • Willingness to respond to emergency situations
  • Ability to communicate effectively
  • No bilingual skills required

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent or minimum 2 years experience in the janitorial service industry or 2 years experience in building maintenance
  • Experience working in a school environment preferred but not required
  • Experience with quality control checks
  • Ability to read analyze and interpret common technical instructions
  • Ability to respond to and resolve common complaints
  • Ability to effectively present information to campus and central office management
  • Ability to read write speak and understand English effectively
  • Ability to learn and use computer software to view work orders
  • Ability to use basic office equipment
  • Ability to learn to operate a burglar alarm
  • Ability to use a smartphone to send and receive photos and text messages
  • Ability to use standard custodial equipment computerized displays and controls
  • Ability to use a computer to complete video or teleconference training

Job Duties

  • Performs routine nightly cleaning including sweeping, mopping, wiping down furniture and cleaning restrooms
  • Removes trash and waste and places it into a dumpster or trash compactor
  • Maintains campus buildings, facilities, grounds and equipment by performing regular cleaning and maintenance
  • Assist with cafeteria dining area set up, including arranging tables and chairs for morning use
  • Routinely performs light maintenance tasks such as unclogging a toilet or drain, fixing restroom partitions, fixing furniture or performing maintenance on janitorial equipment
  • Performs non-routine cleaning such as cleaning waste receptacles, washing windows interior and exterior, pressure washing and other cleaning of the building exterior, dusting furniture, cleaning vents fans walls and ceilings, deep cleaning tile grout carpet LVT VCT and other flooring, performing deep cleaning duties requiring the use of a ladder or other lifting equipment
  • Performs non-routine maintenance such as performing stripping and waxing operations, moving furniture in preparation for stripping and waxing or other reasons, painting classrooms hallways offices and atriums, changing light bulbs, cleaning bodily fluids and disinfecting surfaces, notifying school administration of needed major repairs or equipment failure, maintaining organization and cleanliness of storage supply and maintenance areas, maintaining inventory and ordering supplies as needed, responding to emergency situations to confine resolve or prevent hazardous conditions, reporting emergencies to the Operations Director, performing additional duties as assigned
