Uplift Ascend Preparatory, located in the 76140 area, is currently seeking a dedicated and responsible Campus Operations team member specializing in custodial services. This role is essential in maintaining the physical condition and sanitation of the campus, directly contributing to the health, safety, and comfort of students, faculty, and visitors. The Campus Operations - Custodial position involves performing daily janitorial and maintenance tasks that ensure the campus facilities are environmentally safe, attractive, and efficient. The role requires a motivated individual who takes pride in their work and understands the critical importance of cleanliness in the academic environment.

As a custodian at Uplift Ascend Preparatory, responsibilities include daily cleaning and maintenance of buildings, classrooms, restrooms, cafeterias, hallways, and common areas. This role demands attention to detail, as it involves the removal of litter, disinfecting surfaces including cleaning bodily fluids, and ensuring all spaces are properly set up for school activities and campus events. Light repairs and maintenance duties such as painting and changing light bulbs are part of the job. Additionally, the custodian will assist or oversee contractors during non-routine maintenance and support seasonal refresh tasks like stripping and waxing floors. The position also requires vigilance regarding safety and security issues, with prompt communication to school administration as necessary.

The ideal candidate will have a high school diploma or GED or equivalent experience in janitorial services or building maintenance. While experience working in a school environment is preferred, it is not mandatory. Familiarity with janitorial machinery such as floor scrubbers and buffers is advantageous. Proficiency in understanding and executing verbal and written instructions in English is required, and the candidate must be comfortable using basic office equipment, smartphones, and computerized janitorial tools.

Physical demands of the job include extensive walking, standing, bending, lifting (frequently up to 50 pounds), and working in various indoor and outdoor environments regardless of temperature extremes or exposure to dust, fumes, and noise. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • minimum 2 years experience in janitorial service or building maintenance

Job Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent or minimum 2 years experience in the janitorial service industry or 2 years experience in building maintenance
  • experience working with janitorial machinery such as floor scrubbers, floor buffers, restroom cleaning machines preferred but not required
  • ability to receive and understand verbal and written instructions in English
  • ability to use basic office equipment and computer software to view work orders
  • ability to use a smart phone to send and receive photos and text messages
  • ability to use standard custodial equipment computerized displays and controls
  • ability to use a computer to complete video or teleconference training

Job Duties

  • Maintains campus buildings, facilities, grounds, and equipment by performing regular janitorial and maintenance tasks
  • performs routine custodial and maintenance tasks
  • perform cafeteria breakfast and lunch dining area cleaning and setup
  • perform cleaning on restrooms, hallways, classrooms and other common areas
  • perform litter removal and routine cleaning of the exterior of assigned building(s) and property
  • perform light-duty repairs and maintenance such as painting or changing light bulbs
  • cleaning bodily fluids and disinfecting surfaces
  • perform setup for campus events
  • performs and/or oversees contractors who perform non-routine maintenance tasks and summer refresh tasks
  • pressure washing and other cleaning of the building exterior
  • re-painting walls in classrooms and walls inside the building
  • moving furniture in preparation for stripping and waxing operations
  • assisting in stripping and waxing operations
  • notifies school administration of any needed major repairs or equipment failure
  • remains vigilant on safety and security issues and notifies school administration of any safety or security issues that arise
  • maintains organization and cleanliness of storage, supply and maintenance areas
  • maintains a record of inventory and orders supplies as needed and requests re-supply
  • responds to emergency situations in order to confine, resolve or prevent injurious or otherwise hazardous conditions
  • report emergencies to the Operations Director
  • additional duties as assigned
