The Custodian Supervisor position within the Public Works - Fleet & Facilities department is an essential leadership role responsible for overseeing custodial services at designated County facilities located at 2400 Broadway SE. This supervisory role focuses on managing teams during day or evening shifts, ensuring the highest cleanliness and maintenance standards are followed. The candidate will be instrumental in planning, assigning, and supervising custodial work, including scheduling tasks, evaluating completed work for compliance with quality standards, and maintaining accurate records related to custodial activities and staff performance.
This role requires hands-on leadership where the supervisor not only manages personnel but also participates in custodial work when needed. They will be tasked with handling purchase requisitions, issuing and maintaining inventories of supplies and equipment, and ensuring that all safety guidelines and protocols are strictly adhered to. The Custodian Supervisor will also participate in the hiring process by interviewing prospective custodial employees and making hiring recommendations. Furthermore, they will be required to enforce discipline when necessary, maintain payroll and overtime records, and coordinate training efforts to update staff with new techniques and work standards.

Job Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED
- Six years of related work experience in custodial industry
- Valid New Mexico driver’s license
- Ability to perform physical tasks related to custodial work
- Must complete post-offer employment medical examination and background investigation
- Adhere to all County safety guidelines
- Complete all assigned FEMA training
- Complete required supervisor training if applicable
Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Plan, assign, and supervise custodial services for County facilities
- Supervise custodial maintenance subordinates and assigned personnel
- Coordinate work schedules and inspect completed work for conformance to standards
- Review documentation of custodial services and maintenance for thoroughness and accuracy
- Handle purchase requisitions, issue supplies and equipment, and maintain inventories
- Participate in interviewing prospective employees and make hiring recommendations
- Make on-site disciplinary decisions and report actions to supervisor
