Job Description

Chimes is a purpose-driven organization dedicated to providing exceptional care and support services to individuals with disabilities. Established with a vision to empower and inspire, Chimes operates across various communities, focusing on enhancing the quality of life for those they serve. As a leading service provider, Chimes integrates innovative approaches with a compassionate workforce to create inclusive environments and foster personal and professional growth for their employees as well as the individuals supported. The organization's commitment to excellence extends to maintaining clean, safe, and welcoming facilities, ensuring that every space reflects their core values of respect, dignity, and integrity.

The Custodian role at Chimes is a crucial position responsible for performing a diverse range of cleaning and building maintenance services in public and workspaces, including executive and command areas. This role requires attention to detail, adherence to contract specifications, and a strong commitment to safety and hygiene protocols. Custodians at Chimes work primarily during the evening shift from 5:00pm to 9:00pm, earning a competitive pay rate of $22.42 per hour. This role is essential for maintaining the cleanliness and operational readiness of the facilities, supporting the organization's mission to provide a safe and healthy environment for both staff and clients.

In this role, custodians are expected to comply with all agency policies, including uniform and personal hygiene standards, while delivering thorough cleaning services such as disinfecting restrooms, descaling showers and toilets, vacuuming carpets, scrubbing tiles, and maintaining floors. Beyond routine cleaning, custodians play an active part in keeping facility areas well-stocked with necessary supplies, managing waste disposal efficiently, and servicing specialized areas like fitness centers, kitchens, and childcare rooms. They also assist in secondary responsibilities such as inventory management, equipment maintenance, floor refinishing, and supporting special events.

Physical agility is important for success in this job, as it involves prolonged standing or walking, stair navigation, reaching, bending, lifting up to 50 pounds, and working in various environmental conditions. Custodians must exhibit the ability to work independently, follow directions thoroughly, stay alert to safety concerns, and communicate effectively with supervisors and colleagues. The role demands flexibility to work days, nights, holidays, and weekends, and mandates compliance with all building and security protocols.

Joining Chimes as a custodian means becoming part of an essential team designated for institutional emergencies, ensuring continuous facility operations under all circumstances. This position offers opportunities for career development through training and active participation in workplace meetings. The workplace culture at Chimes values positivity, respect, and teamwork, empowering employees to contribute their best while enjoying comprehensive benefits such as medical, dental, vision insurance, retirement plans with company matching, and paid time off. Individuals with custodial experience or training, a high school diploma or equivalent, and a commitment to excellence in facility maintenance are encouraged to apply and grow with Chimes.
