The position of Custodian II at Michigan Medicine is a vital role within the Environmental Services department, which ensures a clean, safe, and sanitary environment crucial for patient care and hospital operations. Reporting to the Environmental Services leadership, Custodian IIs work on-site at the Ann Arbor facilities and carry out essential custodial duties that directly impact hygiene, safety, and overall facility appearance. This full-time, regular position offers a salary range of $43,763.20 to $47,444.80 annually, reflecting the importance of the role in supporting the healthcare mission.

Working primarily during night shifts, from 11:30 pm to 8:00 am Monday through Friday, the Custodian II is responsible for maintaining cleanliness in patient care areas, restrooms, public spaces, and administrative offices. Tasks include operating specialized cleaning equipment such as vacuum cleaners and touch-free spray systems, cleaning and polishing furniture, mirrors, and fixtures, changing linens and curtains, and managing the collection and disposal of waste and soiled linen. Additionally, Custodian IIs ensure that supplies are well-stocked and report any maintenance issues to the appropriate personnel. The position demands physical activity such as lifting, bending, and climbing step ladders to perform duties efficiently and safely.
