The Recycling Technician/Custodian position at Amentum is a vital role within the company’s operations and maintenance team located in Robbinsville, NJ. This full-time role typically follows a Monday through Friday schedule from 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM, although hours may vary based on business demands. The hiring salary range for this position is between $19.00 and $21.00 per hour, dependent on an applicant’s education, experience, skills, and internal equity considerations. In this role, the technician will play a critical part in supporting the company's Solid Waste and Recycling Program, assisting a premier industrial client in achieving strategic waste reduction and recycling targets aligned with zero waste principles. Responsibilities include overseeing recycling activities involving materials such as wooden pallets, rims, cardboard, heavy and light metals, and general trash disposal. The position requires efficient coordination with subcontractors and vendors to ensure compliance and effective waste management, as well as accurate tracking and reporting of waste management performance data.
The ideal candidate brings a strong record in customer service and teamwork, showcasing the ability to engage effectively with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and external organizations. The role also carries custodial duties, including cleaning and maintaining buildings and facilities to meet safety, security, and quality standards. Job Requirements
- 0-1 years’ experience as a recycling technician
- 0-1 years’ experience as a custodian
- Computer proficiency using spreadsheets, databases, and online data processing applications
- Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks and drive solutions
- Proven record of excellent internal and external customer service and stakeholder engagement
- Ability to pass a pre-employment substance abuse test
- Valid Driver’s License may be required
- Ability to obtain a security access badge
- Flexibility to work various shifts, weekends, and alternative schedules
- Ability to perform physical tasks including repetitive wrist movement, walking extensively, climbing ladders and stairs, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, reaching and stretching
- Ability to lift up to 30 lbs regularly
- Ability to interact professionally in stressful conditions
- Willingness to wear required personal protective equipment such as steel toe shoes, gloves, safety glasses, and hard hats
- Ability to cope with job-related stressors
Job Qualifications
- 0-1 years’ experience as a recycling technician
- 0-1 years’ experience as a custodian

- Record of providing excellent customer service and stakeholder engagement
Job Duties
- Ensures execution of recycling activities at the site including wooden pallets, rim recycling, cardboard, heavy metals, light metals, and general trash collection
- Support coordination of subcontractors associated with recycling program
- Coordinate and arrange shipment and delivery of waste to final vendors
- Apply measurement systems to monitor recycling progress and goals
- Collect, compile, and report monthly, quarterly, and annual performance data accurately
- Provide customer service by answering questions, resolving complaints, and responding to external surveys
- Manage vendors to meet contractual compliance
- Understand and implement performance improvement processes
- Clean and maintain buildings and facilities
- Notify managers of repair or maintenance needs
- Establish and maintain effective communication with clients, co-workers, supervisors, and managers
- Comply with safety, security, compliance, and quality standards
- Perform miscellaneous duties as assigned
- Clean floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming
- Clean and vacuum carpeted areas including spot treatment
- Gather trash and empty bins properly
- Clean tabletops, chairs, refrigerators, microwaves, and polish furniture and fixtures
- Service and supply restrooms
- Clean interior glass, windows, and mirrors
- Maintain flexibility and willingness to complete assigned tasks
