Job Description
The organization hiring for this position is a faith-based pastoral ministry center dedicated to serving its community by fostering a welcoming, clean, and safe environment for both staff and visitors. The Custodian position is essential in supporting the organization’s commitment to providing a safe and hygienic environment. The custodian’s responsibilities involve maintaining the cleanliness of the interior spaces, including the chapel, restrooms, hallways, offices, and meeting rooms. The role encompasses both routine cleaning tasks such as sweeping, mopping, dusting, and trash removal, as well as specialized tasks including operating electric buffers to maintain floors, restocking supplies, and preparing spaces for special events. Additionally, the custodian ensures the upkeep of exterior grounds in coordination with facilities staff, further enhancing the welcoming atmosphere of the pastoral ministry center. The role also requires vigilance in safety and security, from ensuring emergency exits and equipment are functional and accessible to securing doors and windows after hours.

Job Requirements

- Minimum of 3 years experience in custodial sanitation role
- Reliable transportation
- Must have working knowledge of cleaners and custodial chemicals

Job Qualifications

Job Duties
- Clean and sanitize interior of building including chapel restrooms sinks walls hallways offices and meeting rooms
- Sweep mop vacuum and dust all areas of the buildings
- Operate electric buffer to scrub wax buff and polish floors
- Empty trash receptacles and recycling bins and dispose of waste in accordance with safety and environmental protocols
- Ensure facility grounds are kept clean and work closely with the facilities staff to ensure grounds are well-maintained
- Clean windows doors and light fixtures as needed
- Replenish restroom supplies and break room supplies unclog commodes and sinks as needed
- Provide support for special events by ensuring the areas are ready for use
- Monitor and request supplies toiletries and other necessary materials for sanitation and hospitality
- Ensure water fountains and drains are kept clean and in working condition
- Alert Facility Manager of required basic repairs such as fixing minor plumbing or facility issues
- Maintain organized storage areas for cleaning supplies and equipment keeping hazardous materials safely stored
- Ensure that all fire exits and emergency equipment are functional and accessible
- Ensure locking doors and windows after hours to make sure the premises remains secure
- Adhere to safety training and protocols daily taking precautionary measures to ensure safety and well-being of self and others
- Protect the confidentiality of information obtained in service to the organization
- Adherence to the Code of Conduct and the Faith and Moral Policy
- Take a solution-oriented approach in interactions and promote collaboration and commitment to the organization mission and vision
- Perform other duties as assigned
