Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Minimum three years janitorial or environmental health and safety experience
- Familiarity with OSHA and Federal safety regulations
- Knowledge of custodial maintenance standards
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to perform heavy manual lifting
- Ability to work scheduled hours including overtime
- Valid New York State driver’s license
- Reliable transportation
- Ability to pass physical examination
- Ability to pass pre-employment drug test
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or general equivalency diploma
- Minimum three years of work experience in janitorial maintenance or environmental health and safety
- Familiarity with State and Federal OSHA regulations
- Strong knowledge of custodial practices, procedures, and equipment
- Ability to follow detailed verbal and written instructions
- Experience with disinfecting and sanitation processes
- Knowledge of disinfecting chemicals, equipment, and safety precautions
- Ability to perform heavy manual lifting
- Valid New York State driver’s license
- Ability to communicate in English effectively
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Knowledge of COVID-19 and infectious disease control a plus
- Certification in maintenance or safety related fields preferred
Job Duties
- Perform routine cleaning and disinfecting tasks in agency facilities
- Use appropriate cleaning chemicals and equipment safely and efficiently
- Follow OSHA and federal safety and health guidelines
- Maintain proper storage and handling of cleaning supplies and disinfectants
- Conduct heavy manual lifting and move heavy objects up to fifty pounds
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members
- Work assigned shifts and maintain flexibility for overtime or varying hours
