This particular position is based at MCHS Kaneohe Bay - Inns of the Corps and offers a chance to join a respected team in a full-time capacity as a NA-02 Custodial Worker. In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and sanitation standards across lodging corridors, public areas, and back-of-house spaces. Working closely with the housekeeping team, the Custodial Worker supports overall housekeeping operations by ensuring that guest rooms and suites remain in pristine condition, including the removal and transport of soiled linens and terry. The role involves a variety of cleaning tasks such as vacuuming, dusting, mopping floors, and sanitizing bathrooms while adhering to safety protocols like using wet floor signage. The Custodial Worker also plays a key role in maintaining inventory control of linens and terry, coordinating with off-site laundry services to manage the exchange of clean and soiled items efficiently.

Additionally, this position includes responsibilities such as managing trash removal, maintaining housekeeping carts, organizing furniture, and assisting with deeper cleaning projects or mattress rotation when needed. A strong focus on guest security and privacy is maintained at all times, especially when handling master keys or attending to lost and found items. Importantly, the Custodial Worker is expected to provide world-class customer service with politeness and professionalism, effectively communicating with guests and addressing any issues promptly or escalating them as appropriate. Working conditions typically involve indoor settings with exposure to cleaning chemicals and equipment, and physical effort is required, including lifting items up to 45 pounds independently and occasionally heavier items with assistance. This role demands a commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork as part of the MCCS mission to enhance the living and working experience within the Marine Corps community.

Job Requirements

Job Duties

  • clean lodging corridors, public areas and back of house areas
  • support efficient, safe and effective overall housekeeping operations
  • remove soiled linen and terry from vacant guest rooms and suites
  • transport soiled and clean linens and terry to and from laundry and Housekeeping closets
  • receive clean linen and terry from off-site laundry service and swap dirty linen and terry for pickup
  • take inventory of all linen and terry
  • remove and transport trash from guest rooms to dumpsters
  • dry mop and wet mop floors
  • use wet floor signage and observe safety protocols when cleaning
  • thoroughly clean public and back of house areas including dusting, furniture, sweeping, vacuuming rugs, emptying wastebaskets, and sanitizing bathrooms
  • wash ceiling fixtures, windows, dust drapes and blinds using a ladder
  • remove scuffs and marks from walls
  • arrange furniture neatly as directed
  • empty vacuum cleaners
  • maintain a clean and organized Housekeeping cart
  • control issued master keys and maintain guest security and privacy
  • assist with mattress rotation and deep cleaning projects as needed
  • initiate work requests to Maintenance team
  • deliver items such as amenities, rollaway beds, cribs, blankets to guests
  • periodically strip, wax and polish tile flooring
  • report missing or broken articles
  • collect lost items in vacant guest rooms and turn into lost and found
  • maintain cleanliness throughout the facility
  • provide world class customer service with courtesy
  • assist customers and communicate positively
  • solve problems quickly or alert supervisor
  • adhere to safety regulations and report hazards or injuries
  • support EEO program and prevent sexual harassment
  • perform other related duties as assigned
