Job Description

The open position is Custodial Worker II at UNLV’s Student Recreation and Wellness Center (SRWC), a vital facility that spans over 184,000 square feet. This role is full-time classified employment, with Grade 23 – CBA A, E, F Step 1 salary starting at $40,966.56 annually. Custodial Worker IIs are essential in maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across various campus facilities, including the Health Center, Einstein Bagels, and the recreation areas within the SRWC, such as locker rooms, pool decks, cardio and weight equipment zones, Mac Courts, gymnasiums, and wellness labs. The position requires daily general cleaning activities such as trash removal, sweeping, mopping, floor stripping and waxing, carpet maintenance, restroom sanitation, window washing, and upkeep of storage and office areas. Additional duties include repair of minor equipment, furniture moving and polishing, and use of cleaning machinery like buffers, carpet extractors, and auto scrubbers.

This role operates on a 24/7 schedule with shifts rotating between days, swing, and graveyard hours, with possible shifts falling between Sunday and Monday in various patterns from 9:30 PM to 6:00 AM. The ideal candidate will demonstrate the ability to perform advanced-level custodial duties using proper cleaning equipment and materials, ensuring the safety and hygiene of the workplace. The position’s minimum qualifications have been waived until June 30, 2026, under Executive Order 2026-001, but typically require a high school diploma or equivalent with relevant custodial experience. Job Qualifications

  • graduation from high school or equivalent education
  • one year of custodial or janitorial experience in a commercial, industrial, hospital, governmental, or similar environment
  • or six months as a Custodial Worker I in Nevada State service
  • equivalent combination of education and experience
