Job Requirements
- Must pass all applicable records and background checks
- Must successfully pass E-Verify employment verification check with any discrepancies resolved
- May be designated ALPHA personnel for inclement weather or national security and required to report when others are excused
- Ability to perform moderately strenuous physical labor including lifting, moving, and carrying supplies and equipment up to 45 pounds unassisted and assisted lifting over 45 pounds
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in English verbally and in writing with management, staff, and guests.
Job Qualifications
- 6 months of experience working as a custodial or housekeeper in NGIS, hotels, hospitals, or related settings
- Knowledge of cleaning procedures and proper use of cleaning equipment and approved cleaning chemicals including Safety Data Sheets (SDS)
- Knowledge of operation of all in-room appliances such as coffee maker, television, clock radio, telephone
- Ability to utilize Property Management System (PMS) software to update room status using in-room telephone system
- Ability to complete daily room status reports and housekeeping assignment sheets accurately
- Ability to apply general cleaning procedures to housekeeping tasks
- Ability to safely and properly use common hand and powered tools
- Ability to schedule and prioritize work respecting No Service/Do-Not-Disturb requests and cleaning standards
- Ability to navigate web-based Learning Management System (LMS) and complete online and e-learning training.
Job Duties
- Performs varying degrees of complexity in cleaning processes including daily service, check-out, deep cleaning, and special project cleaning assignments based on Lodging program cleaning standards
- Vacuums, sweeps, and mops floors
- Dusts, polishes, cleans, and moves furniture
- Removes trash, places it in dumpsters, and replaces liners
- Places the proper number of amenities in rooms including consumables/non-consumables, linen, kitchen, and bathroom items
- Removes and replaces bed linens, inspects mattresses and pull-out sofas, and moves/repositions beds upon guest checkout, weekly, or at a guest's request
- Cleans walls, doors, ceilings, fans, light fixtures, air vents, windows, sills, tracks, blinds, and curtains
- Cleans kitchen appliances including coffee makers, ice buckets, beverage kits, refrigerators, stove tops, cookware, utensils, cutlery, cups, glasses, plates, sinks, counters, ovens, ranges, cupboards, drawers, and microwaves including programming microwave clocks
- Ensures dishwashers are clean and working properly
- Cleans vanities, mirrors, hardware, cabinets, toilets, bathtubs, shower stalls, tiles, and bathroom exhaust fans
- Replaces bathroom terry and linens including shower curtains
- Cleans and maintains irons, ironing boards, luggage racks, and restocks hangers in closets
- Cleans washers and dryers and ensures their operational status
- Cleans common areas including vending rooms, ice machines, laundry rooms, elevators, break rooms, walkways, corridors, stairwells, office spaces, lounges, storerooms, and storage spaces
- Performs deep cleaning as required including defrosting refrigerators, cleaning windows, replacing or cleaning drapes, moving furniture, carpet cleaning, and cleaning walls and woodwork
- Counts, sorts, inspects, and prepares linen for use
- Applies Blood Borne Pathogen criteria for safety concerning contaminated linens and follows NGIS protocols
- Completes maintenance requests for broken or defective items
- Performs physical tasks including standing, bending, kneeling, walking, pushing, pulling, lifting up to 45 pounds unassisted
- Uses personal protective equipment as required
- Performs basic maintenance on vacuum cleaners including cleaning and filter replacement
- Reports unsafe, illegal, or suspicious activities
- Interacts professionally with guests and team members using effective communication
- Assists guests by providing information about hotel facilities and local attractions
- Communicates lost and found items to the front desk
- Maintains key control and reports any issues to Supervisor.
