The Custodial Supervisor at Aramark plays a crucial role in maintaining and enhancing the cleanliness and safety standards of the company's facilities. This position not only involves overseeing the quality and progress of janitorial activities through regular inspections and corrective actions but also extends into managing employee performance and fostering a positive work environment. The supervisor is responsible for scheduling adequate staffing coverage, conducting training sessions, implementing department policies, and ensuring accountability among front-line associates. Effective communication and relationship-building with team members, peers, management, and customers are fundamental aspects of this role.

In this leadership capacity, the Custodial Supervisor conducts audits on equipment, payroll, and security items such as building keys and pagers to maintain operational integrity. They also handle supply inventory control and equipment distribution, monitor equipment performance for repair needs, and oversee special projects and new or on-call employees. The role requires active involvement in employee evaluations and the ability to provide counsel or disciplinary actions when necessary. In emergency situations such as inclement weather or catastrophes, the supervisor is expected to provide essential operational support to the work area.

This position demands someone who is physically capable of performing or supervising physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy objects and performing extended periods of standing, climbing, or bending. The ideal candidate is knowledgeable in customer service and interpersonal communication, adept at following instructions, and preferably bilingual in English and Spanish to effectively lead diverse teams. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior supervisory experience
  • Physical ability to lift, lower, push and pull objects up to 50 lb unassisted
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, stoop and crouch for extended periods of time
  • Good communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions

Job Qualifications

  • Prior supervisory experience required
  • Must be physically able to lift, lower, push and pull objects up to 50 lb unassisted
  • Ability to stand, climb, bend, stoop and crouch for extended periods of time
  • Must be able to initiate and maintain good customer and co-worker relationships in a team environment
  • Demonstrates good written and verbal skills and can follow oral or written instructions and directions
  • Bi-lingual preferred (English and Spanish)
  • Demonstrates strong customer service, interpersonal skills and attention to detail

Job Duties

  • Conduct daily and frequent inspections for quality and safety and implement corrective action
  • Understand all employee work assignments and schedule for adequate coverage
  • Conduct training and retraining as needed and follow recommended training process
  • Enforce department policies, follow up on daily assignments, and conduct counseling or disciplinary action
  • Maintain effective interpersonal relationships with associates, peers, customers and managers
  • Supervise special projects and on-call or new employees
  • Audit building keys, pagers, and payroll daily
