The Custodial Day Porter role at AMS Little Rock is a crucial position that supports the cleanliness, maintenance, and overall functionality of the school facilities. This full-time, on-site position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $14 to $16 per hour, depending on experience. Scheduled to start in Summer 2026, this role involves ensuring that classrooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, gymnasiums, cafeteria, and common areas remain clean, safe, and welcoming throughout the school day. A successful candidate will be responsible for routine custodial tasks such as sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, vacuuming, dusting, sanitizing restrooms, and disposing of trash, together with some facilities maintenance including changing light bulbs and HVAC filters.
Beyond basic cleaning, the Custodial Day Porter will provide essential support in maintaining inventory levels of cleaning supplies, adhering to safety protocols including chemical handling guidelines like Safety Data Sheets (SDS), and helping set up spaces for meetings and events. - high school diploma or GED
- minimum of 2 years of custodial or facilities experience
- familiarity with Safety Data Sheets SDS and chemical handling procedures
- experience operating cleaning equipment
- ability to work effectively as part of a team
- ability to respond to campus needs and emergencies during the school day

- experience operating cleaning equipment such as backpack vacuum floor buffer microfiber systems
- ability to work effectively as part of a team
- ability to respond to campus needs and emergencies during the school day
Job Duties
- clean and maintain all areas of the campus including classrooms hallways restrooms offices gymnasiums cafeteria and common areas
- sweep mop scrub and vacuum floors using appropriate equipment and cleaning solutions
- clean and sanitize restrooms daily
- dust furniture fixtures baseboards and equipment
- clean walls windows doors and building fixtures
- collect and dispose of trash throughout the campus including exterior areas
- launder towels and mop heads as needed
- assist with routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and HVAC filters
- apply wax or sealants to floors as directed
- assist with building security including locking and unlocking doors and gates
- set up rooms for meetings events and daily cafeteria operations
- maintain and track cleaning supplies and equipment inventory
- notify leadership when supplies need to be reordered
- follow all chemical handling guidelines and safety regulations including HAZMAT and SDS requirements
- maintain a safe and compliant working environment
- interact professionally with school staff and leadership
- respond to campus needs and emergencies in a timely manner
- report major repair needs to the Head of Operations Facilities Manager
- operate and maintain cleaning equipment including vacuums floor buffers carpet extractors and other custodial tools
- safely use hand tools small power tools and ladders as needed
