Job Description
American Cruise Lines is a premier cruise line company that operates exclusively within the United States, providing travelers with an unparalleled experience navigating the beautiful rivers of America aboard modern riverboats and iconic paddlewheelers. Known for its intimate cruises that accommodate up to 200 guests, American Cruise Lines offers a unique way to explore the scenic landscapes and rich cultural heritage across various regions nationwide. With a growing fleet that includes newly constructed vessels, the company continues to lead in offering exceptional service and unforgettable journeys. Committed to maintaining high standards, American Cruise Lines is renowned for its culinary excellence, placing a strong emphasis on fresh ingredients and locally inspired menus crafted by chefs trained at prestigious culinary institutes.
The company is currently seeking experienced Culinary Team Leaders for its 2026 season to join its passionate culinary team. This full-time, exempt position plays a vital role in maintaining the highest standards of food quality and presentation onboard. Culinary Team Leaders will collaborate closely with the Executive Chef to design diverse, flavorful menus and oversee all kitchen operations to ensure smooth workflow and exceptional dining experiences for guests. They will supervise and lead the culinary team to consistently deliver delicious and beautifully presented dishes, including options for cafés, buffets, and hors d'oeuvres. By upholding rigorous food safety and hygiene standards, these leaders ensure that every meal served meets the company’s commitment to excellence. The role demands strong leadership, organizational skills, and the ability to thrive in a dynamic environment subject to the constant motion of the ship.
Working onboard involves unique challenges such as adapting to a schedule of approximately seven days per week for 6 to 8 weeks followed by 1 to 2 weeks off, living and working in close quarters amidst the ship’s motion including surge, sway, and pitch, and the need for quick responsiveness to onboard emergencies. Candidates must be comfortable with physical demands including standing for long shifts, lifting weights, climbing ladders, and navigating narrow passages. American Cruise Lines values individuals who can maintain composure and efficiency under pressure, communicate effectively, and foster a collaborative team environment. This opportunity offers a competitive daily rate, health benefits including dental and vision, 401(k) matching, and covered expenses such as travel, room and board, uniforms, and training.
Joining American Cruise Lines as a Culinary Team Leader means becoming part of a dedicated team that crafts exceptional culinary experiences while exploring some of the most beautiful waterways in the United States. This is an excellent opportunity for culinary professionals with a passion for quality and leadership who are seeking a unique role in the cruise industry with generous benefits and room for professional growth.
