Job Description
Loveland Living Planet Aquarium (LLPA) is a renowned world-class facility dedicated to providing exceptional educational experiences and inspiring learning across all ages and interests. Located in Draper, Utah, and having welcomed over eight million guests since the opening of its new facility in March 2014, the Aquarium houses close to 5,000 animals representing over 600 species, alongside an impressive collection of more than 600 plant species. The Aquarium brings to life various global ecosystems including kelp forests, coral reefs, the deep ocean, Antarctic waters, Asian cloud forests, South American rain forests, and the native waterways of Utah. This dynamic environment serves as a key educational and conservation institution, providing innumerable opportunities for visitors and students to engage with the natural world in a meaningful way.
The Culinary Supervisor role at LLPA offers an exciting opportunity to be part of this vibrant team. As a member of the passionate Culinary Team, you will play an essential role in food service operations that support the Aquarium’s daily activities and special events. Working closely with a manager who coordinates and leads operations, the Culinary Supervisor will oversee staff, manage kitchen activities, and ensure the delivery of high-quality food service that meets safety, hygiene, and organizational standards. This part-time, hourly position is ideal for individuals who are reliable, prompt, and able to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced kitchen environment — the culinary heart of the Aquarium's operations.
This role involves creating and maintaining staff schedules, directing daily kitchen activities, ensuring compliance with food safety standards, managing inventory, and training new team members. Supervisory responsibilities also include promoting teamwork, monitoring food quality, maintaining kitchen sanitation, and handling equipment maintenance to support smooth culinary services. The position demands a strong emphasis on safety and quality, with regular checks on food storage, preparation, and service to maintain the highest level of public health compliance.
Additionally, the role requires adaptability to work occasional nights and weekends for catered events and the ability to communicate effectively within the team and with management. The Culinary Supervisor not only helps maintain operational efficiency but also contributes to fostering a positive work environment through mentorship and employee development. By joining this team, you’ll have the opportunity to nurture your culinary skills and leadership capabilities in a unique and enriching setting that connects food service excellence with environmental education and public engagement.
At the core of this role’s appeal is the chance to be part of a mission-driven organization, Aramark, which operates the Aquarium’s food services. Aramark is globally recognized for its commitment to service, diversity, and sustainability, serving millions of guests daily across 15 countries. The company values inclusive employment practices and professional growth, encouraging employees to pursue careers that enhance their talents and passions while contributing to their communities. As a Culinary Supervisor with Aramark at LLPA, you will be supported by a strong corporate mission that emphasizes doing great things for people, partners, communities, and the planet.
