Job Description

Sodexo is a global leader in food services and facilities management, committed to improving quality of life and creating a better everyday experience for its clients and employees. Operating across multiple sectors worldwide, Sodexo partners with organizations to deliver customized solutions in food service, catering, and integrated facilities management. The company prioritizes inclusivity, fairness, and respect in its workplace, fostering a culture where employees can thrive and be themselves. Sodexo emphasizes social, economic, and environmental progress within the communities it serves, making it a responsible and impactful employer.

Texas Southern University hosts this Sodexo Culinary Supervisor position, offering a full-time role with a competitive pay range of $18 to $23 per hour. The work schedule involves varying shifts with a preference for open availability to accommodate operational needs, primarily in the Texas Southern University environment, known for its vibrant campus life and diverse community.

The Culinary Supervisor role at Sodexo involves hands-on supervision of daily food production and kitchen operations, ensuring the highest standards of culinary quality, food safety, and sanitation are maintained consistently. This position supports Senior Cooks, Sous Chefs, and Executive Chefs by managing food production plans and overseeing service requirements. As the primary working supervisor, the Culinary Supervisor plays a vital role in coordinating culinary staff, monitoring production schedules, enforcing standardized recipes and portion controls, and upholding an efficient and safe kitchen environment.

In addition to supervising, the Culinary Supervisor actively participates in food preparation while directing workflow within the kitchen. This dynamic role requires adaptability to various kitchen structures, service models, and event volumes, making it essential to respond efficiently to changing operational demands. The Culinary Supervisor also supports the onboarding and training of culinary team members, promoting skill development and operational excellence.

Ideal candidates for this role will bring culinary expertise and leadership experience, preferably with a background in high-volume, multi-outlet, or event-based food service environments. Certification in food safety, such as ServSafe Manager, is required to ensure compliance with health standards. The role requires the physical ability to perform tasks involving reaching, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling, and lifting items up to 50 pounds, emphasizing the hands-on nature of this supervisory position.

Working at Sodexo provides more than a job; it offers a career path with access to ongoing training, development opportunities, and a comprehensive benefits package. Employees benefit from paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, and vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, and employee discount programs. Additional site-specific benefits may include free meals during shifts, uniforms, safety shoes, transportation support, and parking.

Sodexo stands by its commitment to equal employment opportunities and embraces diversity and inclusion as foundational principles. Candidates are encouraged to discuss any questions about benefits and job responsibilities during the interview to fully understand what the role entails within the specific business unit and location. Joining Sodexo as a Culinary Supervisor at Texas Southern University means becoming part of a team dedicated to excellence, community impact, and enhancing everyday experiences through quality food service and leadership.
