At Sodexo, the workplace culture emphasizes respect, fairness, and inclusion, fostering an environment where all employees are valued and can express their ideas freely. With operations worldwide, Sodexo partners with clients to deliver memorable experiences through exceptional service and innovative solutions tailored to meet diverse needs.

This job posting is for a Culinary Supervisor position at Liberty University, a prestigious institution known for its commitment to academic excellence and community engagement. Located at the Liberty University campus, this full-time role offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $21.67 to $29.25. The position entails varying shifts with a preference for candidates who have open availability for days and hours; specific details on shifts will be provided during the interview process. Sodexo encourages university students who have certain work hour restrictions, including international students, to consider student worker positions instead.

As a Culinary Supervisor at Sodexo, you will play a critical role in overseeing daily kitchen operations and food production to ensure the highest levels of quality, consistency, and compliance with health and sanitation standards. You will act as the primary working supervisor, overseeing senior cooks and supporting sous chefs and executive chefs in executing production and service plans effectively. This position requires hands-on leadership by directly participating in food preparation and guiding the workflow of the culinary team while upholding operational standards.

Key responsibilities include coordinating culinary staff, monitoring production schedules, enforcing standardized recipes and portion controls, and maintaining safe and efficient kitchen environments. The role supports onboarding and training culinary team members to enhance their skills and productivity. Physical demands include the ability to reach, bend, stoop, push, and pull, with frequent lifting of up to 35 pounds and occasional lifting up to 50 pounds. Punctuality and attendance for scheduled shifts are essential. Duties may vary depending on specific kitchen structures, service models, and event volumes associated with each account.

Candidates should possess at least a high school diploma or equivalent experience and have between 2 to 4 years of culinary experience. Previous leadership experience as a lead cook or kitchen supervisor is preferred, along with knowledge of high-volume, multi-outlet, or event-based culinary operations. Understanding batch cooking and just-in-time production methods will be an advantage. The ability to read and execute production sheets, prep lists, and event orders is required. Food handler or food safety certification and ServSafe Manager certification, or their equivalents, are mandatory where applicable.

Sodexo offers a supportive work environment emphasizing flexibility so employees can balance work with life’s important moments. Employees benefit from ongoing training and development opportunities aimed at career growth. Comprehensive benefits packages are provided, including paid time off, holidays, medical, dental, vision insurance, tuition reimbursement, 401k plans, and discount programs. Some site-specific perks such as free shift meals, uniforms, safety shoes, public transportation support, or parking may also be available depending on the work location.

Sodexo is dedicated to equal employment opportunities and values diversity in the workplace. The company maintains a commitment to treating all employees fairly and with respect, ensuring a culture of belonging where every individual’s contributions matter. Sodexo encourages individuals from all backgrounds to apply and provides accommodations to support applicants during the hiring process as needed.
