The Food Service Worker role at Aramark is a key position within the food services team, responsible for supporting the manager with food and meal preparation tasks. This position plays an essential role in maintaining high standards of quality in food production as well as ensuring kitchen sanitation and safety practices are upheld. The Food Service Worker assists in maintaining cash receipts and meal records, helping the manager complete daily reports and overseeing accurate storage and handling of food.

This role requires attention to detail and adherence to established food safety regulations, including proper sanitation, storage, and meal service standards. The Food Service Worker prepares a variety of food items and baked goods according to planned menus, adds garnishments for visual appeal, and ensures that meals are served according to schedules and department policies. A major part of the role also involves maintaining cleanliness by coordinating major cleaning tasks related to kitchen equipment like refrigerators, freezers, and steam tables, as well as keeping work and storage areas organized.

Physically, the job demands abilities such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, extended walking, and standing. The use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and adherence to uniform policy are also essential. This position fosters direct communication with the manager daily to stay informed of menu changes and ensure food preparation meets expectations. Working under pressure and quickly adapting to changes or new duties as needed is a vital aspect of this role.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • previous food service experience preferred
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards
  • ability to lift heavy items and stand for extended periods
  • excellent communication skills
  • ability to work in a fast-paced environment
  • willingness to adhere to uniform and personal protective equipment policies

Job Qualifications

  • Food service certificate as needed
  • sufficient education or training to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • be able to work quickly and concisely under pressure

Job Duties

  • Prepare quality food and baked goods according to a planned menu
  • prepare a daily report that verifies transactions
  • understand what is inclusive of a meal
  • ensure storage of food in an accurate and sanitary manner
  • serve food according to meal schedules, department policies and procedures
  • use and care of kitchen equipment, especially knives
  • timely preparation of a variety of food items, beverages, and add garnishments to ensure customer happiness and eye appeal
  • coordinate and assist in major cleaning of refrigerators, freezers, and cooking and serving equipment
  • adhere to all food safety regulations for sanitation, food handling, and storage
  • adhere to the uniform policy
  • connect with the manager daily to understand and accurately prepare menu for the day
  • supervise the food temperature requirements
  • maintain a clean and organized work and storage area
  • scrub and polish counters, clean and sanitize steam tables, and other equipment
  • follow established procedures and standards for cleanliness, to ensure a balanced and safe environment
  • maintain garbage collection site and kitchen floor areas in a neat and sanitary fashion
  • perform other duties as assigned including other areas in the kitchen
  • handle physical demands including lifting, bending, pushing, pulling and/or extended walking and standing
  • comply with uniform and personal protective equipment usage requirements
