This specific role is for a Culinary Specialist based in Denver, Colorado (zip code 80238), under the Sysco Denver division. The position is a professional sales role focused on growing new business and achieving assigned sales goals by enhancing the customer experience through specialized product knowledge and consultative selling. The role demands up to 25% travel within the sales territory. Compensation ranges from $85,800 to $128,800 annually, complying with state laws and dependent on experience, skills, and other factors. Eligible candidates may also participate in Sysco’s incentive plan.

As a Culinary Specialist, you will be a key ambassador for the Sysco brand, innovation, and Category Management products. Your responsibilities will extend across direct selling, developing culinary strategies, and representing Sysco at industry events and culinary organizations. You will have a pivotal role in a team-based selling model, working closely with sales team partners and customers to identify challenges and opportunities, provide solutions through product knowledge, and close sales effectively. This role involves supervising kitchen assistants or culinary interns and managing operations of the culinary test kitchen and center, including sanitation, food safety compliance, and event logistics.

Success in this role requires maintaining industry and category-specific certifications to stay current on market trends, product innovations, and competitive insights. You will leverage internal and external reviews, data analytics, and Salesforce CRM tools to prioritize efforts and drive profitable growth across multiple specialty segments. Job Requirements

Job Qualifications

Job Duties

  • Develop and execute targeted culinary strategies to achieve business goals
  • coordinate with Director of Business Resources to leverage data for business reviews
  • collaborate with sales team to identify customer challenges and opportunities and deliver solutions
  • track activities and results and champion the team selling process using Salesforce
  • leverage product sampling to close sales
  • stay informed on market conditions, product innovations, and competitor activities and share insights with customers
  • facilitate internal and external food shows, catering, and event planning
  • coordinate kitchen logistics for culinary events
  • develop and maintain relationships with customers, chefs, and sales teams through participation in local culinary events and competitions
  • advise sales team on product specifications and serve as expert on Sysco brand and Category Management products
  • assist with employee training by facilitating sessions and demonstrations
  • manage all operations of the test kitchen including sanitation, product rotation, laundry, and equipment upkeep
  • manage test kitchen food and supply costs within budget
  • comply with food safety and health regulations
  • accompany and respond to regulatory inspections
  • provide work direction to culinary staff and vendors
