Job Description

Big Al's is a vibrant and expanding restaurant chain that first opened its doors in 2006 in Vancouver, Washington. Starting as a local favorite, it has grown to include five locations across the West Coast, while retaining its small, family-owned feel. This unique blend of scale and personal touch creates an inviting atmosphere where employees are valued and have the opportunity to contribute their ideas and grow within the company. Big Al's is well-known for its fast-paced, scratch kitchen environment where traditional recipes meet creative culinary approaches, making every meal memorable for its guests. The company prides itself on maintaining a close-knit team vibe, with a strong emphasis on inclusivity, diversity, and mutual respect among its employees. Working at Big Al's means being part of a team that not only values great food and service but also cares deeply about the community and the people who make the magic happen.

As a shift lead at Big Al's, you take on a crucial, hands-on role in the kitchen, leading by example in a dynamic and energetic setting. Your responsibilities will extend beyond food preparation—you'll ensure that every dish leaving the kitchen meets high standards of quality and presentation while adhering to safety and hygiene protocols. Embracing this position means you will be an essential part of the culinary process, from prepping fresh ingredients like vegetables and dough to managing the dish pit and keeping the kitchen spotless. You’ll work alongside your teammates to guarantee that the kitchen operates efficiently, recipes are followed precisely, and waste is minimized. Whether it’s managing the heat of the grill or the pace of the line, your leadership will help maintain the flow and spirit of the kitchen.

This role requires flexibility and stamina as you'll spend much of your time on your feet, lifting varying weights, and navigating a hot, humid kitchen environment. The shift lead position at Big Al's offers rewarding perks such as significant food and drink discounts during shifts, health coverage including medical, dental, and vision for full-time employees, supplemental short-term disability, life insurance, a 401(k) plan with company matching, and more. Employee growth is strongly encouraged through ongoing paid training, career development opportunities, and the possibility to progress into full management roles. The company prioritizes work-life balance by granting holidays off such as Thanksgiving and Christmas, and it fosters a supportive and inclusive workplace where every voice matters.

Joining Big Al's means more than just a job; it’s about becoming part of a community where fun, food, and camaraderie blend seamlessly, making it an exceptional place to grow your culinary career. If you’re passionate about cooking, leading a team, and thriving in a fast-paced, enjoyable environment, this shift lead opportunity is tailor-made for you. Apply today and help continue the tradition of excellence that Big Al’s has been striking up since 2006.
