The Culinary Service Manager (CSM) at Waltonwood is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing and directing all culinary operations within the community. This position ensures that all food preparation, presentation, and service meet exceptional quality standards that enrich the residents' lives. The CSM manages the full scope of culinary activities including menu development, procurement, food safety compliance, inventory control, and staff management. Reporting directly to the Executive Director, the Culinary Service Manager is passionate about creating superb cuisine that delights residents and fosters a positive and enjoyable dining experience.
The role requires meticulous attention to quality, detail, and service standards, including adherence to local health regulations and industry best practices such as ServSafe certification. The CSM leads a team of culinary associates, overseeing hiring, scheduling, training, payroll, and performance evaluations to promote a respectful and effective work environment. Furthermore, the CSM coordinates with other departments, including Marketing and Life Enrichment, to support community events involving food service.
A key part of the role involves maintaining clear and consistent communication with residents, families, and culinary staff to ensure satisfaction and quickly address concerns. The Culinary Service Manager also diligently manages departmental budgets for food, supplies, and labor, controls inventory, and ensures all kitchen and dining areas remain clean and sanitary.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree, certifications, or coursework in Culinary Service Arts, Hospitality, or related field is strongly preferred
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 5 years' previous experience working as an executive chef
- Must be ServSafe certified
- Previous experience working with seniors is strongly preferred
- Strong computer skills including proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience working with a Point-of-Sale system preferred
- Ability to read, write and communicate effectively in English
- Excellent time management skills and ability to multi-task and stay organized
- Able to work weekends and holidays as needed sharing Manager on Duty responsibilities

Job Duties
- Maintain a regular cooking schedule to ensure high quality cuisine to the residents
- Ensure compliance with assisted living regulations, ServSafe program, and local health department regulations
- Ensure Singh standards are in place including proper menus, therapeutic diets, correct portioning, and high quality service
- Oversee café operations and catering events throughout the community
- Review and update Resident Diet Notification binder and POS system educating culinary associates
- Oversee hiring, training, supervision, payroll, scheduling, and evaluating of the Culinary department
- Adhere to product ordering guide and vendor usage maintaining adequate inventory
- Ensure resident satisfaction through communication, circulating during meals, and attending resident council meetings
- Collaborate with Marketing and Life Enrichment teams for community events involving food
- Adhere to departmental budget for food, supplies, and labor
- Provide reports and documentation such as inventory reports, temperature logs, and schedules
- Ensure dining room and kitchen areas are clean, sanitized, and maintained
- Assist with duties assigned by Executive Director
