The company is recognized not only for its culinary expertise but also for fostering an inclusive and supportive work environment. It has been acknowledged by Glassdoor with the Employee Choice Award, highlighting its status as one of the best places to work in the industry.
Restaurant Associates, a subsidiary of Compass Group, specializes in offering high-quality dining and event catering services at notable cultural and corporate locations, such as the Griffith Observatory in Los Angeles. Their dedication ensures that guests enjoy memorable culinary experiences backed by professionalism and attention to detail.
The available position is for a full-time Culinary Prep Cook located at the Griffith Observatory at 2800 East Observatory Road, Los Angeles, CA. This role operates Tuesday through Sunday from 12:00 PM to 8:00 PM, with further details to be discussed during the interview process. Compensation for this position ranges from $23.00 to $25.00 per hour, reflecting the candidate's experience and skills.
The Culinary Prep Cook plays a vital role within the kitchen team by preparing food items according to prescribed recipes, maintaining high standards of sanitation and food safety, and assisting in daily operational tasks to support efficient kitchen function. The role requires previous experience in food preparation, with an emphasis on quality control, consistency, and adherence to health regulations. Preferred candidates may also bring restaurant administrative experience, which contributes to smooth kitchen management and communication.
In this role, the Culinary Prep Cook is responsible for executing daily production schedules provided by the Chef, preparing food items according to production sheets, and carefully following recipes to ensure the highest quality. The individual must maintain accurate records such as production worksheets and waste logs, conduct taste tests to guarantee food quality, and operate cleaning procedures for kitchen equipment after each use. Adhering to HACCP guidelines, the cook ensures all food items are stored, labeled, and dated in compliance with food safety standards.
Additional duties include taking customer orders and preparing items requiring minimal preparation time, serving customers efficiently and courteously at multiple stations, and resolving any customer concerns professionally. The individual must also comply with federal, state, and local sanitation standards as well as company policies regarding safety equipment such as gloves for handling knives and oven mitts for hot items, as well as slip-resistant footwear and proper lifting techniques.
At Compass Group and Restaurant Associates, associates benefit from a comprehensive range of employee benefits designed to promote health, wellness, financial security, and work-life balance. Full-time employees gain access to medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability coverage, commuter benefits, and flexible spending accounts, among others. There are also voluntary benefits including pet insurance and identity theft protection, and programs supporting employee shopping, retirement planning, and legal services.
Overall, this opportunity at the Griffith Observatory offers candidates the chance to be part of an industry-leading company recognized for excellence in foodservice while delivering exceptional culinary services in a culturally rich environment. The company values diversity and inclusion, providing equal employment opportunities irrespective of race, gender, age, disability, or veteran status. Qualified applicants are encouraged to apply, with the assurance that the company will strive to accommodate their essential job functions with reasonable accommodations if needed.
