The Culinary Operations Manager role is a pivotal position within our restaurant, offering an excellent opportunity for a skilled culinary professional to advance their career. You will lead the recruitment, training, and development of kitchen staff, emphasizing teamwork and continuous improvement. Inventory control, supply ordering, compliance with health regulations, and adherence to food safety standards are integral parts of this role.

Additionally, the position involves managing food costs through strategic purchasing and recipe standardization, as well as analyzing sales and inventory reports to identify opportunities for operational optimization. You will play a key role in ensuring safe kitchen operations, maintaining OSHA compliance, and upholding sanitation protocols. The Culinary Operations Manager also supports the General Manager with cash handling and deposit procedures, contributing to the restaurant's financial health. Job Requirements

  • Culinary education is preferred
  • a minimum of two years of restaurant experience is required
  • at least one year of management experience in a restaurant setting is preferred
  • strong understanding of food costs and sales metrics
  • familiarity with kitchen equipment including knives, mixers, ovens and more
  • excellent communication skills for interacting with guests and team members
  • organized, detail-oriented, and able to problem-solve effectively
  • commitment to delivering exceptional service and enhancing customer satisfaction
  • engage with guests to build rapport and enhance their dining experience
  • cultivate a motivating work environment through coaching and feedback
  • adhere to all food safety and sanitation regulations including ServSafe standards
  • ensure the physical safety of team members and compliance with security policies
  • maintain relationships with vendors for timely deliveries and cost-effectiveness
  • understand budgets and analyze sales data for cost control
  • assist the General Manager with cash handling and deposit procedures

Job Duties

  • Conduct daily line checks with the management team to ensure food quality and presentation meet our high standards
  • monitor incoming products and communicate any quality issues to management
  • handle the recruitment, training, and performance evaluation of kitchen staff
  • create weekly work schedules aligned with business forecasts and budget constraints
  • manage food costs through effective purchasing, storage, and recipe standardization
  • ensure compliance with all health department standards for food safety and handling
  • analyze weekly food costs using inventory tracking reports to optimize operational efficiency
  • prepare food according to established standards and customer specifications
  • oversee safe operation of kitchen equipment in compliance with OSHA regulations
  • maintain effective food storage and inventory to meet par levels
  • supervise food preparation and cooking activities
  • order necessary food supplies and kitchen equipment as required
  • delegate daily work assignments to kitchen staff in each area
  • train and mentor kitchen employees on food preparation methods and safety practices
