Job Requirements

  • Ability to spend up to 70% of time in field
  • willingness and ability to travel frequently to remote and hazardous locations on short notice
  • must live within one hour of an international airport or willing to relocate
  • experience in military, emergency response, culinary, humanitarian, or event management settings preferred
  • ability to work in austere, low-resource environments
  • capability to manage teams and maintain high standards under pressure
  • proficiency in English
  • readiness for long physically demanding hours
  • demonstrated leadership and adaptability

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent preferred
  • five plus years of management experience in fast-paced, changing environments
  • experience leading, training, and coaching large teams
  • ability to work independently with minimal resources
  • cultural awareness and sensitivity
  • strong communication skills in English
  • proficiency in additional languages such as Spanish, French, or Portuguese highly desirable
  • demonstrated negotiation and diplomacy skills
  • calm and composed under pressure
  • physical fitness and stamina for demanding tasks
  • strong mental resilience and emotional intelligence

Job Duties

  • Respond within four hours notice to disaster areas as Culinary Manager
  • lead and manage culinary field teams
  • design and implement adaptable response strategies
  • recruit, onboard, train, and manage culinary and local teams
  • consult on scope and manage culinary operations
  • provide regular updates to Response Director
  • collaborate with departments and ensure smooth transitions during activations
  • complete After-Action Reports
  • design and manage high-volume production kitchens
  • oversee rapid food production across kitchens
  • create and advise on rotating menus
  • manage inventory and procurement
  • teach food safety and quality standards
  • ensure timely meal preparation for distribution
  • work with finance and Response Director on cost projections
  • collaborate with procurement and logistics for sourcing
  • recruit and motivate high-performance culinary teams
  • provide leadership, mentorship, and training
  • address personnel issues and provide performance feedback
  • support recruitment and personnel management
  • identify training needs
  • build relationships with local communities
  • conduct outreach and engagement
  • represent WCK as ambassador to beneficiaries and media
