Job Description
Behavioral Health Network (BHN) is the largest provider of behavioral health services in Western Massachusetts, proudly recognized by The Boston Globe as a Top 10 Employer in Massachusetts. Known for its commitment to delivering culturally responsive, high-quality behavioral health care since 1938, BHN stands as a mission-driven organization dedicated to making a meaningful impact in the community through compassionate service and recovery-focused programs. BHN's core values—Humanity, Empowerment, Accountability, Respect, and Teamwork—underpin every aspect of its operations and interaction with clients and staff alike. This dedication to excellence in care is matched by a supportive and inclusive work environment, earning BHN a Certified Great Place to Work designation. The organization’s Substance Use Disorder (SUD) programs are central to its mission, offering critical support and recovery services where food plays a vital role in treatment engagement and dignity for clients.
As a Culinary Manager at BHN, you will take on a leadership role that is both dynamic and impactful. This position involves overseeing multiple kitchen sites that serve these SUD programs, ensuring the delivery of nutritious, appropriate meals that comply with BHN's stringent standards. Your role is crucial in creating a structured and stable environment where culinary staff can thrive, and operational targets such as food spend, labor, and prime costs are controlled effectively. The position offers the unique opportunity to influence the regional kitchen culture, develop staffing stability, and drive performance outcomes that directly support client recovery. As a Culinary Manager, your leadership will extend beyond administration: you will engage hands-on when needed, stepping into kitchen production to maintain service continuity and actively participating in staff coaching, onboarding, and retention strategies. Collaboration with residential and program leadership ensures that culinary services consistently meet quality expectations and support recovery goals. This role requires balancing operational management with mission-driven impact, leveraging your culinary expertise and supervisory experience in a structured, multi-site environment.
BHN offers competitive compensation within the range of $58,000 to $76,850, alongside a comprehensive benefits package that includes generous paid time off, a 403(b) retirement plan, tuition reimbursement, and more. The work schedule typically spans Monday to Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility based on business needs. This role is ideal for culinary professionals who are not only experienced in food preparation and labor management but are also committed to community and recovery principles. If you thrive in leadership positions that combine purpose-driven work with operational excellence, BHN invites you to join their dedicated team and make a tangible difference in the lives of those they serve.
