Job Description

DEAN Adventure Camps is a premier summer camp organization operating across multiple states including DC, MD, NJ, PA, and VA. They specialize in creating life-changing experiences for young people by offering all-inclusive programs that foster passion discovery, skill development, and personal growth. With a vision to cultivate resilient, compassionate, and confident individuals, DEAN Adventure Camps emphasizes core values such as Compassion, Trust, Growth, and Creativity. Their camps provide dynamic and engaging environments where children can explore new interests while developing character and lifelong skills in a safe and supportive setting. Serving children from ages 6 to 15, DEAN Adventure Camps is a leader in youth programming focused on meaningful adventures and personal achievements throughout the summer months.

The Lead Culinary Counselor role at DEAN Adventure Camps is a unique opportunity for culinary educators passionate about teaching and inspiring children across developmental stages. As a Lead Culinary Counselor, you will be responsible for leading hands-on culinary experiences for campers from multiple age groups, adapting recipes and cooking techniques to match the learning abilities and interests of kids aged 6 to 15. This role demands a creative and organized instructor who can ensure kitchen safety, promote hygiene, and foster a positive, confidence-building environment in the kitchen. Your teaching will encompass foundational skills such as measuring and mixing for younger campers as well as more advanced skills including knife handling, timing, and food presentation for older campers.

You will also manage supplies and kitchen workspaces efficiently to maintain a smooth and safe cooking experience. Collaboration plays a key role in this position, as you will work closely with camp leadership and co-counselors to ensure seamless transitions between activities and enhance the overall camper experience. This is a full-time seasonal role with a pay range of $20-24 per hour depending on location and experience. The position operates Monday through Friday during the summer (June to August) with typical work hours from 8 am to 4 pm at the camp located at 370 Lancaster Ave, Haverford, PA.

Beyond culinary instruction, this job offers substantial benefits including paid training, reimbursement for required certifications and background checks, summer and referral bonuses, free daily snacks and parking, employee discounts, and opportunities for career growth. Candidates must be at least 21 years old, current on immunizations, certified in First Aid and CPR, capable of lifting 50 lbs, and able to work effectively in an active outdoor environment. DEAN Adventure Camps prides itself on being an equal opportunity employer, welcoming diverse applicants and promoting inclusive hiring practices.

This role is ideally suited for those who are passionate about youth education, enjoy hands-on experiential learning, and thrive in active, dynamic environments. If you are an adaptable, safety-focused, patient communicator with experience in culinary education or youth programs, this position offers a rewarding chance to impact children’s lives through the art of cooking while contributing to a community-centered camp culture. Join the DEAN Adventure Camps team and help make a summer of adventure, learning, and growth possible for young campers across several states.
