Job Requirements

  • GED or high school diploma required
  • Two years experience cooking in a restaurant, school or large group
  • Food service supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Food handler’s certificate required within first 90 days
  • ServSafe certificate required within first year in applicable counties
  • Pre-employment drug testing and background checks
  • Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment
  • Physical capability to stand, lift, climb, stoop and perform other kitchen duties
  • Excellent judgment and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prepare and maintain accurate records

Job Qualifications

  • GED or high school diploma
  • Two years cooking experience in a restaurant, school or large group setting
  • Food service supervisory experience preferred
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Food handler’s certificate (to be obtained within first 90 days)
  • ServSafe certificate (to be obtained within the first year if applicable)
  • Strong multitasking skills
  • Excellent people skills and professionalism
  • Ability to work under frequent interruptions
  • Knowledge of safe food preparation techniques
  • Understanding of kitchen sanitation and equipment cleaning
  • Basic math skills
  • Proven supervisory ability
  • Willingness to learn required computer skills

Job Duties

  • Oversee the planning, preparation and serving of meals
  • Supervise all food service assistants, including paid and volunteer staff
  • Cross-train employees in all kitchen positions
  • Collaborate with kitchen staff and Center Lead to maintain a positive work environment
  • Ensure compliance with food safety and sanitation procedures
  • Maintain accurate records and support kitchen operations
  • Calibrate thermometers and manage kitchen equipment cleanliness
