The Senior Cook position at Universal Orlando is a vital role that contributes directly to the culinary excellence within the resort’s food service operations. This role is primarily responsible for the preparation and cooking of food within a specified Food Service Unit or the main kitchen located in the theme parks or CityWalk area. The Senior Cook ensures that all food preparation adheres to high-quality standards set by Universal Orlando, maintaining consistency and excellence in every dish served to guests. This position involves a variety of responsibilities including stocking materials, managing inventory control tools, performing cooking duties, and ensuring compliance with health and safety regulations such as the State of Florida’s HACCP program. The Senior Cook plays an instrumental role in maintaining cleanliness and orderliness in their work area, supporting environmental health and safety initiatives, and contributing to efficient kitchen operations.

Job Requirements

  • High school degree or GED preferred
  • completion of chef’s apprentice or equivalent preferred
  • one to two years of high-volume experience as a line cook required
  • must have knowledge of cooking processes
  • equivalent combination of education and experience

Job Duties

  • Stocks materials and supplies in hot/cold and dry areas
  • maintains all cost of goods control tools by performing quarterly updating of control cards, inventory packages, recipe books
  • performs daily spot checks of all portioning tools
  • provides daily documenting and recording of product spoilage
  • performs cooking duties and related production functions
  • ensures high food quality level that meets Universal Orlando standards
  • maintains a clean work area and immediate surrounding area
  • ensures compliance of the State of Florida’s HACCP program
