The Culinary Director position at Arrow Senior Living’s Rushwood community is a full-time role located in Wichita, KS. This position plays a crucial role in ensuring that the culinary department consistently delivers five-star quality food service to residents, creating a memorable and positive dining experience. The Culinary Director is responsible for overseeing both the front and back of house operations, managing kitchen staff, and developing seasonal menus that reflect residents’ preferences and nutritional needs. This position offers a competitive pay range of $32 to $32.25 per hour, with a five-day workweek from Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 5:00 pm.

Job Requirements
- Be at least eighteen years of age
- have at least three years of experience in senior housing or related field preferred but not required
- demonstrate skills, knowledge, and competency in leadership, training, and supervision
- possess proficient written and oral communication skills
- completed formal culinary, food service, or restaurant training or equivalent supervisory or management-level work experience
- comfortable using Microsoft Word and Excel
- able to send, receive, and forward email
- physically capable of standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping all day
- able to frequently lift and/or move items up to 50 pounds
- comfortable working in proximity to extreme temperatures including cooking surfaces and walk-in freezers
- able to work indoors primarily and outdoors for events
- in good physical and mental health as verified by a recent health screening
- freedom from pulmonary tuberculosis within seven days of employment and annually thereafter
- must be criminally cleared
Job Qualifications

- ability to create, modify, and print documents using Microsoft Word and Excel

Job Duties
- Oversee culinary department in providing consistent, exceptional, five-star service in both front and back of house
- ensure food items are prepared to culinary standards and provide residents with an exceptional dining experience while maintaining portion control and minimizing waste
- develop menus of delicious seasonal and mainstay choices based on resident preferences and needs utilizing fresh foods
- train and supervise culinary staff to maintain high standards of food preparation and customer service
- manage inventory, ordering, and food cost to optimize resource use
- ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations, including sanitation and food safety protocols
- collaborate with management and residents to continuously improve dining services
