The role of Culinary Cook 1 at The Broadmoor is a vital position within the culinary team that supports the day-to-day food preparation and service that the resort is known for. As a member of the culinary team, a Cook 1 functions as a lead culinarian responsible for preparing dishes according to the resort's specific menu and recipe standards. This includes working in both banquet and restaurant settings, covering multiple meal services such as breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or G.E.D with 2 years of preferred culinary experience
  • Must be 18 years old
  • Occasionally required to lift/pull/push up to 50 pounds
  • Work in conditions that are both inside and outside at times
  • Enthusiastic, friendly, and energetic team member who works well with others
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills

Job Duties

  • Prepares hot and cold food as specified in areas working in
  • Prepares food for breakfast / lunch / dinner as assigned
  • Maintains a clean, organized and sanitary work area following safety guidelines
  • Assists chef with maintaining the kitchen and keeping staff on task
  • Proceeds in preparation of all menu items in assigned area daily to include hot and cold food as specified in areas
  • Must be able to understand and adjust recipes according to business levels
  • Assists with organization of product, equipment, and necessary paperwork
  • Precisely follows portion control, presentation of food, consistency of food, and flavor as determined by the culinary department
  • Checks coolers for proper rotation of food items to prevent spoilage
  • Must be able to maintain Serv Safe and health department standards
  • Ability to check and complete mise en place and pars to set-up the station
  • Highly responsible & reliable
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
  • Ability to focus attention on guest needs, always remaining calm and courteous
  • Uphold and abide by all Broadmoor policies, procedures, and safety guidelines
  • Takes required breaks, notifying supervisor prior to leaving station
  • Other duties as assigned
