The Culinary Banquet Supervisor role at Hyatt is designed to lead and manage banquet operations in collaboration with the Banquet Manager and Executive Chef. The role is critical for maintaining high standards in the execution of banquet functions, ensuring a consistent and quality product that fulfills guest expectations. This supervisory position involves oversight of the banquet team, hourly kitchen employees, and the setup, service, and cleanup of banquet events. The supervisor is expected to maintain proper sanitation and organization in function spaces and storage areas while monitoring food production, cost, and quality daily. This position is also responsible for assisting in payroll and overtime management, demonstrating leadership in training, and can assume department responsibilities in the absence of senior management. The role requires a hands-on leader who can guide their team to deliver outstanding service and operational excellence.

Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 3 years of banquet or culinary supervisory experience preferred
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to lift moderate weight and stand for long durations
  • Flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team
  • Commitment to guest service excellence
  • Basic knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards

Job Qualifications

  • Requires refined communication skills, strong leadership and relationship skills
  • 3+ years of previous banquet experience preferred
  • Must have physical stamina to lift moderate amounts of weight
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time
  • Must have an open and flexible schedule including weekends and holidays
  • Must exhibit a positive attitude and have a passion for teamwork

Job Duties

  • Leading and coaching the team towards achieving exceptional guest service and employee satisfaction
  • Inspect the set-up of meeting and banquet functions checking them against the Banquet Event Order
  • Supervise and assist with the set-up of assigned banquet functions ensuring that the hotel standards are met and advance preparation for service is adequate
  • Assist in service of banquet functions as required
  • Assist in banquet set-up as required
  • Supervise and assist with the break down after completion of functions ensuring that all equipment and supplies are stored properly
  • Inspect the sanitation of all function space and storage areas to maintain highest standards of cleanliness and organization
  • Producing a consistent, quality product that meets and exceeds guest needs in a timely manner
  • Monitoring food production, ordering, cost, and quality and consistency daily
  • Assisting with monitoring payroll costs and overtime
