Kettering Health Miamisburg is part of the larger Kettering Health network, a not-for-profit health system based in southwest Ohio. As an integrated healthcare system, Kettering Health Miamisburg employs a wide range of healthcare professionals and support staff to ensure high-quality service across multiple disciplines.The Culinary Associate II position at Kettering Health Miamisburg is a full-time role, working primarily the first shift. This role plays a crucial part in the hospital’s food and nutrition services, supporting retail areas, catering, the ingredient room, and patient room service lines. The Culinary Associate II is responsible for preparing and serving food and beverages that meet strict health and safety standards, in alignment with HACCP (Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points) principles and applicable food codes. This position requires a strong commitment to food safety, hygiene, and customer service excellence.The role involves basic food preparation tasks such as cooking, assembling, and serving meals and beverages following guidelines and recipes. It includes managing position paperwork accurately, including order-taking, preparation documentation, cash register operations, cash-ups, and temperature monitoring forms for refrigeration, freezer, and food at serving lines. The Culinary Associate II is expected to safely and effectively use and clean all kitchen equipment such as coffee brewers, espresso machines, grills, fryers, and scales. Proper sanitation procedures and food storage techniques, including correct date-marking and FIFO (First In First Out) methods, are essential to minimize the risk of foodborne illness.The Culinary Associate II also interacts frequently with patients, internal customers, and coworkers, utilizing effective communication techniques such as the HEAL principle to provide excellent customer service. This includes being able to describe menu items, including coffee drinks, and having knowledge of ingredients and allergens to respond to patient needs or concerns accurately.The schedule for this full-time role covers 72 hours per pay period with an interesting split in duties — 40 hours are dedicated to the expo line, while the remaining 32 hours focus on maintenance activities like putting the truck away. Job Qualifications

  • high school diploma or GED preferred
  • food service or customer service experience preferred
  • ability to communicate effectively
  • knowledge of food safety and sanitation practices beneficial
  • experience with cash handling and point of sale systems advantageous

Job Duties

  • perform basic food preparation and service tasks for retail areas catering ingredient room and patient room service line

  • accurately handle cash and manage sales transactions through MyMicros software
