Job Description

Silverdale Baptist Academy is a prestigious educational institution committed to providing a holistic and faith-based learning environment for its students. As an academy rooted in Christian values, SBA integrates rigorous academics with spiritual growth, fostering a nurturing community where students can thrive intellectually, socially, and spiritually. Recognized for its strong dedication to its mission and philosophy, Silverdale Baptist Academy prides itself on cultivating an atmosphere where education is seen not just as a transmission of knowledge, but as an environment of relationships, discipline, and ministry. This understanding shapes its curriculum, teaching approaches, and community interactions, ensuring students receive a well-rounded education aligned with the Academy's Statement of Faith and core values.

The Culinary Arts Teacher at Silverdale Baptist Academy plays a pivotal role in delivering an engaging, hands-on culinary curriculum that bridges the gap between nutrition, food systems, and creativity in the kitchen. This role requires a passionate educator who embraces experiential learning and is committed to inspiring students through practical, project-based instruction. The Culinary Arts program emphasizes a connection between garden and kitchen, sustainable cooking practices, health, and the environment, integrating lessons from SBA’s greenhouse and outdoor education settings. This position demands a candidate who is not only technically proficient in culinary skills but also sees teaching as a ministry and is dedicated to mentoring students both academically and personally. The teacher will collaborate closely with faculty and parents, contribute to developing partnerships with local farms and community organizations, and maintain the teaching kitchen and program budget. This role is ideal for someone with outstanding interpersonal, communication, and technology skills who values collaboration and possesses the flexibility to engage in extracurricular activities and school events. Candidates are expected to hold a Bachelor’s degree in Education, Culinary Arts, Agriculture, Hospitality Management, or a related field, with a Master’s degree preferred, and demonstrate a willingness to obtain certification through the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI).

The position is physically demanding and requires consistent attendance, professional attire, and an engaging teaching personality. Silverdale Baptist Academy offers an inclusive environment and is an equal opportunity employer, welcoming applicants from all backgrounds without discrimination. The Culinary Arts Teacher’s role is integral to enriching the students’ educational experience by fostering culinary creativity, critical thinking, and a deep understanding of the relationship between food, health, and the environment, making it a unique and rewarding opportunity for the right candidate.
