The role involves planning and providing instruction to secondary students aligned with state, district, and school curricula and tailored to meet their diverse social and developmental requirements. The teacher will develop developmentally and linguistically appropriate lesson plans that are culturally relevant and challenging, designed to engage students in active learning and foster higher-order thinking and meta-cognitive skills. The role requires a comprehensive understanding of the Utah Core Standards and the ability to integrate disciplinary-specific literacy skills to enhance student interaction with the content.
The teacher will establish a positive and supportive classroom climate that motivates students to become self-directed learners, internalize routines, and engage respectfully with peers and instructors. They will use positive classroom management strategies, collaborate with students, families, and colleagues, and utilize multiple instructional strategies that accommodate the needs of diverse learners, including English Language Learners and students with special needs. Monitoring student progress through formative and summative assessments and employing data to inform instructional adjustments is an essential component of the position.
Ideal candidates will hold a valid Utah Professional or Associate Secondary or CTE Educator License with endorsement areas such as Family & Consumer Sciences Comprehensive or Culinary Arts. The role welcomes educators who demonstrate professional communication skills and the ability to support English language development effectively. Preferred qualifications include proficiency in Spanish, ESL endorsement, previous teaching experience, and knowledge of teaching strategies specialized for English Language Learners and students with special educational needs.

Job Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or completion prior to contract start
- Valid Utah Secondary or CTE Educator License or transferable license
- Valid Utah endorsement in Family & Consumer Sciences Comprehensive or Culinary Arts
- Demonstrated professional communication skills in English
- Commitment to maintain regular and predictable attendance
- Ability to sustain professional workplace etiquette and confidentiality
- Willingness to collaborate with diverse groups of people
- Demonstrated adaptability and cultural understanding in diverse environments
- Compliance with all federal, state, and district educational laws and policies
Job Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university or completion prior to contract start
- Valid Professional or Associate Utah Secondary or CTE Educator License or transferable out-of-state license
- Valid Utah professional or associate endorsement in Family & Consumer Sciences Comprehensive or Culinary Arts
- Professional communication skills including excellent written and verbal English communication
- Ability to engage students with empathic listening and persuasive speaking
- Preferred Spanish speaking ability reading writing and oral
- Preferred ESL endorsement or willingness to obtain within 4 years
- Preferred previous teaching experience
- Preferred experience with data meetings and PLCs for instructional improvement
- Preferred knowledge of English Language Learner teaching practices social-emotional learning and special education laws
