The position also involves conducting high-impact recruitment presentations, cooking and baking demonstrations, and instructional activities that serve the college's secondary education and community engagement goals.

Organizing and managing events such as tours, open houses, classroom lectures, and the innovative Chef for a Day culinary demonstrations at JJC are core to this position. The coordinator plays an essential role in supporting instructional faculty and students by overseeing lab processes, equipment functionality, and programmatic activities. Regular communication with the Department Chair and Dean occurs, especially in reporting incidents that may impact classes or campus events.

In addition to operational responsibilities, the coordinator collaborates with various departments and facility teams to enhance campus services and program operations. They engage in outreach efforts by coordinating with high schools and post-secondary partners to conduct recruitment and present culinary arts opportunities. Participation in local career and college fairs further extends the program’s reach, alongside assisting with the creation and updating of marketing and informational materials.

The role requires proficiency in college policies, procedures, safety protocols, and the ability to uphold the college's core values of respect, inclusion, sustainability, humor, and well-being. The coordinator also manages the Culinary Arts Department website and social media content to maintain current and engaging communications with prospective students and the community.

This role demands independence, excellent judgment, and problem-solving skills along with a commitment to fostering cooperative relationships within diverse community and campus environments. The successful candidate thrives in a flexible work schedule, including evenings and Saturdays, to meet the dynamic needs of the culinary labs and events.
