Established in 1968 as part of the Virginia Community College System, TCC has expanded from a single campus to multiple locations including campuses in Chesapeake, Norfolk, Portsmouth, and Virginia Beach, along with seven regional centers and two cultural institutions. As the largest provider of higher education and workforce development services in the Hampton Roads area, TCC enrolls nearly 25,000 students each academic year and annually graduates thousands, many of whom transfer to four-year universities. The college holds institutional accreditation through 2027 by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges, affirming its commitment to educational quality and student success.

Within this dynamic and supportive environment, the position of Culinary Arts Adjunct Faculty at Tidewater Community College offers an exciting opportunity for professionals passionate about culinary education. This role is part-time and exempt, with compensation commensurate with qualifications and experience. The adjunct faculty member will be responsible for teaching culinary arts courses, sharing industry knowledge, and guiding students through both in-person and remote learning modes including classrooms, online platforms, and Zoom sessions. The role demands planning and organizing course content, delivering engaging instruction, and providing timely, meaningful feedback to students from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of experience.

Responsibilities may include daytime, evening, or weekend work depending on course scheduling needs. Faculty must also offer at least one dedicated office hour weekly per course to assist students outside of scheduled class time.

Ideal candidates for this role will hold a Bachelor’s degree in Culinary Arts or an Associate’s degree accompanied by demonstrable teaching competency in the field, along with a minimum of two years of related occupational experience. Additional considerations include prior teaching experience at the college level, familiarity with learning management systems such as Canvas, and expertise in evidence-based teaching strategies designed to promote student success.
