  • Ability to be accurate, concise and detail-oriented
  • Ability to read, speak, understand, and communicate effectively in English through verbal and written means
  • Six months experience in senior living environment preferred
  • Experience in food service is desired

Job Duties

  • Prepares and pre-portions food such as beverages, salads, desserts, and other items assigned by the supervisor for regular and therapeutic diets according to planned menu for meals and snacks, as well as employees and special events
  • Ensures that food is served in an attractive, appetizing manner
  • Serves resident meals accurately in accordance with planned menu and food preferences
  • Labels, dates, and stores food properly according to established policies
  • Washes dishes and other kitchen items according to established procedures for manual and automatic dishwashing
  • Records water temperatures and/or sanitizer on designated logs and reports any problems to supervisor
  • Keeps work area clean and uncluttered during preparation and service of food
  • Performs cleaning assignments according to established policies and utilizes proper cleaning chemicals
  • Performs duties using proper infection control techniques and protective equipment as needed
  • Ensures dishes and other needed items are readily available for the next meal and stores them properly to prevent contamination
  • Reports inadequate stock levels to supervisor promptly
  • Uses food supplies and equipment efficiently and economically to prevent waste
  • Maintains security of the kitchen
  • Performs all duties using proper safety techniques
  • Operates equipment according to manufacturer and supervisory directions and maintains equipment clean and safe
  • Reports all equipment problems to supervisor promptly
  • Completes tasks according to established time schedules
  • Works cooperatively as a team member with co-workers in all departments
  • Interacts appropriately and positively with residents, families, and visitors
  • Ensures punctuality and regular attendance for assigned shifts
  • Performs other duties as assigned
  • Attends in-service education and applies instruction to job
