Job Description

This position is offered by an educational institution committed to delivering high-quality career and technical education in fields related to Culinary Arts and Hospitality. This role is a full-time position starting July 2024, focused on teaching various Culinary Arts and Hospitality courses and preparing students for practical and theoretical success in the food and nutrition industry.

The Culinary Arts and Hospitality Instructor will plan and provide comprehensive classroom learning experiences across a range of courses including Culinary Arts and Hospitality levels I through IV, Food and Nutrition I, and advanced CTE studies. The role involves creating an engaging, safe, and positive learning environment that encourages student motivation and fosters educational success. The instructor will be responsible for supervising students in various school-related settings, monitoring and evaluating student outcomes, and effectively communicating with students, parents, faculty, and community stakeholders. This position demands adaptability in instructional planning, modifying teaching materials to accommodate diverse learning styles, cultural backgrounds, and special needs. Additionally, the instructor must be adept at integrating technology into the classroom experience, utilizing data-driven strategies for problem-solving, and implementing curriculum aligned with both state and district guidelines. Maintaining the care and appropriate use of equipment, materials, and facilities is also a critical part of this role. The ideal candidate will bring considerable knowledge in Microsoft Office and Google Apps, strategic organizational skills, and a passion for inspiring students. In addition, the instructor will serve as an adviser or co-adviser for student organizations such as DECA or FCCLA, helping to extend learning beyond the classroom through leadership and career development opportunities. This position offers a dynamic teaching environment where educators can impact students’ futures in a meaningful and measurable way.

Job Requirements

  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in teaching content area
  • Bachelor’s degree in relevant field and two years of related work experience or Associate’s degree and four years of related work experience
  • Ability to prepare course objectives and outlines following curriculum guidelines
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and Google Apps
  • Ability to maintain discipline and order in classroom and school environments
  • Effective communication skills
  • Ability to maintain files and records
  • Ability to motivate and inspire students
  • Capability to monitor student safety and well-being
  • Ability to maintain a clean and orderly instructional environment

Job Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Food Science, Culinary Arts, Dietetics, Food Service Management, Nutrition, or Baking and Pastry
  • Two years of related work experience or Associate’s degree and four years of related work experience
  • Hold or be qualified to hold a North Carolina Professional Educator’s License in the relevant teaching content area
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
  • Experience with Google Apps
  • Knowledge of curriculum integration and effective instructional practices
  • Ability to prepare course objectives aligned with curriculum guidelines
  • Skilled in multicultural education and technology infusion
  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills
  • Effective oral and written communication abilities
  • Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships

Job Duties
