Job Description

Ochsner Health is a renowned healthcare system with a rich history dating back to 1942. Committed to serving, healing, leading, educating, and innovating, Ochsner Health has established itself as a leader in comprehensive medical care and patient services. The institution places a high value on its dedicated employees, recognizing that every accomplishment—from awards and patient successes to groundbreaking records—is driven by the talented individuals who make up their team. Whether working directly with patients or providing essential support behind the scenes, employees at Ochsner Health contribute to making a significant difference in the lives of those they serve. This culture of commitment, excellence, and innovation fosters a dynamic and rewarding work environment where professionals can grow and thrive.

The role being offered is that of a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist, a vital clinical position responsible for assessing patients and safely performing routine CT procedures in strict accordance with radiation safety protocols. This role goes beyond technical expertise, requiring the individual to serve as a clinical mentor for junior staff and students, embodying leadership and educational qualities. The CT Technologist at Ochsner Health is expected to perform their duties with a high level of proficiency, ensuring diagnostic quality images are produced and maintained. They will utilize radiology information systems efficiently to support patient care and departmental operations, including equipment maintenance and staff scheduling.

The job requires adaptability and excellent interpersonal skills, as the technologist must communicate effectively with patients to explain procedures and ease anxieties while respecting privacy and diverse patient needs. The role demands a professional who can work independently, remain calm under pressure, and maintain confidentiality. Additionally, this position involves medium physical work, such as lifting moderate weights, standing for prolonged periods, and navigating multiple facilities. There is also exposure to blood, body fluids, potentially communicable diseases, and hazardous materials, underscoring the need for stringent adherence to safety protocols.

Ochsner Health emphasizes compliance with federal, state, and local laws and standards, including its own Compliance and Privacy Program, which promotes ethical behavior and safety. The institution is an equal opportunity employer, fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace free from discrimination based on race, color, religion, gender, sexual orientation, and other protected statuses. This position offers significant opportunities for professional growth in a supportive healthcare environment that values innovation, patient-centered care, and community impact.
