The role offered at Ochsner Health is that of a Computed Tomography (CT) Technologist, an essential position within the radiology department. This role involves assessing patients and safely executing routine CT procedures by complying strictly with prescribed radiation safety protocols and guidelines. A CT Technologist at Ochsner not only operates sophisticated imaging equipment to capture high-quality diagnostic images but also serves as a clinical mentor to junior staff and students, supporting skill development and ensuring clinical excellence. Job Requirements

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or computed tomography ARRT (CT) certified or ARRT registry eligible
  • Current unrestricted license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Ability to work flexible hours including nights, weekends, holidays, and extended shifts
  • Ability to lift and move objects weighing 20 to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Exposure to blood, body fluids, and potentially communicable diseases
  • Ability to adhere to safety and compliance protocols
  • Willingness to travel between facilities
  • Ability to work in a patient care environment

Job Qualifications

  • Completion of an approved radiologic technology program
  • Registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) and/or computed tomography ARRT (CT) certified or ARRT registry eligible
  • Current unrestricted license in state of practice
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
  • Preferred advanced certification in CT by a mechanism acceptable to ARRT
  • Proficiency in using computers, software, and web-based applications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of CT procedures and technical language
  • Ability to work efficiently and calmly under pressure
  • Ability to be self-directed and function without direct supervision
  • Ability and willingness to maintain flexible work schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays

Job Duties

  • Verifies physician order and procedure to assure accuracy
  • Uses radiology information systems to facilitate care
  • Explains procedure to patient to ensure understanding
  • Independently operates equipment to complete imaging procedure according to protocol including placement of IV
  • Reviews patient images prior to transmission to ensure images meet diagnostic quality standards
  • Completes timely quality control procedures in accordance with regulatory standards and performing notification/remediation as warranted
  • Assists in the facilitation of departmental operations including inventory, staff schedules, equipment maintenance
  • Adapts behavior to the specific patient population including respect for privacy and communication style
  • Performs other related duties as required
