Job Description

Norwegian Cruise Line operates the Pride of America, a landmark vessel that represents the first US-flagged cruise ship inaugurated in 2005 after nearly fifty years. This ship travels year-round meting picturesque Hawaiian destinations such as Maui (Kahului and Lahaina) and Kauai (Nawiliwili) while sailing from its home port in Honolulu. As the only American-registered major cruise ship servicing the Hawaiian route, the Pride of America exemplifies excellence in hospitality and seafaring tradition with a dedicated crew of 935 personnel, all carrying the proud responsibility of being U.S. crew members due to U.S. regulations. Norwegian Cruise Line continues to operate with a clear commitment to both the maritime community and guests by maintaining safety, quality, and an unparalleled cruising experience.

The roles currently open aboard the Pride of America are diverse and cater to hospitality-minded individuals who thrive in dynamic onboard environments. Positions available include Assistant Cook (Prep Cook), Assistant Waiter, Laundry Personnel, Stateroom Attendant for hotel room housekeeping, Utility support within both the galley and hotel areas, and Waiter roles. These positions form an integral part of the ship's daily operations, ensuring guests receive exceptional service and comfort throughout their voyage.

Employment with Pride of America means joining a full-time position that offers competitive compensation starting at $16.00 per hour, with overtime opportunities that can significantly boost earnings. The pay structure allows for gross monthly salary earnings ranging from $3,000 to $3,730 based on a 56-hour work week, and assignments typically last six months, leading to a gross base salary between $18,000 and $22,380 per period. Additional incentives may include gratuity pay for eligible staff, paid training to hone skills and prepare for shipboard life, and generous personal savings on room, food, and transportation, as these are provided while working onboard.

Norwegian Cruise Line encourages candidates to take advantage of the virtual job fairs regularly conducted, providing accessible platforms for potential crew members to learn about employment opportunities, engage in informative discussions, and undergo immediate one-on-one interviews with recruiters. These virtual sessions are carefully organized, requiring candidates to participate fully to qualify for interviews, and emphasize the authentic experience and detailed insights into the life and work on a cruise ship.

Working aboard Pride of America presents a unique fusion of career advancement, cultural experience, and the chance to work amongst a global team while exploring one of the most beautiful regions in the world, Hawaii. The positions not only offer competitive pay and comprehensive benefits but also foster an inviting shipboard community where teamwork, customer service, and maritime professionalism are valued. Whether you are seeking a career boost or a new adventure, Pride of America serves as a gateway into the cruise industry, with continual opportunities to grow and succeed in hospitality and maritime operations.
