Job Description
Waterways is a prominent company specializing in cruise and event services, known for delivering exceptional guest experiences aboard their vessels. As a leader in the maritime hospitality industry, Waterways offers various dining and event cruises, providing passengers with memorable moments on the water. With a commitment to safety, quality, and guest satisfaction, Waterways has built a reputation for excellence and innovation in cruise management. The company values a dedicated workforce and fosters an inclusive environment where leadership and teamwork are paramount.
The On-board Cruise Manager at Waterways is a vital leadership role responsible for ensuring the flawless execution of onboard events and cruises. This position is tailored for mature individuals who excel in managing fast-paced operations while maintaining exceptional hospitality standards. The On-board Cruise Manager leads the onboard team, coordinates event preparations, and acts as the gracious host to guests, ensuring their experience exceeds expectations. This year-round, full-time employment opportunity offers a competitive compensation of $22 per hour plus tips, reflecting the value Waterways places on experienced leadership.
The role demands excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task under pressure. The manager prepares event layouts based on guest count, client needs, and staffing, reviews contract details with the team, and sets clear expectations. On event days, this leader directs the crew, manages food and beverage service quality, and maintains a "Show-Ready" condition on all vessels. The position also involves physical tasks such as bending, stooping, lifting up to 50 pounds, and assisting with setup and teardown.
Safety is a top priority for Waterways, and the On-board Cruise Manager plays a crucial role in enforcing all safety protocols, including event communications and compliance with U.S. Coast Guard regulations, such as pre and random drug testing. Candidates with prior experience in hospitality management, particularly in food and beverage supervision, will find this role aligns well with their skills and career goals. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and strong leadership capabilities are essential.
This position offers professional growth opportunities, including assistance in tracking sea time and eligibility for obtaining advanced maritime licenses such as the Able Seaman (AB) License, Mates License, and up to a 100 ton Master's license after two years of service. Waterways supports its team with unique perks such as complimentary dining cruise tickets and family discounts, fostering a sense of community among employees. Ideal candidates will have a flexible schedule to accommodate the mostly night, weekend, and holiday operational hours.
Joining Waterways means becoming part of a dynamic team committed to quality service and guest satisfaction. The On-board Cruise Manager plays an important role in sustaining the company's standard of excellence and ensuring every cruise is a memorable event for passengers. If you are a motivated leader with a passion for hospitality and maritime operations, Waterways invites you to apply and contribute to an industry-leading cruise experience.
