Job Description

Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity is a well-respected nonprofit organization dedicated to building and preserving affordable housing for families in need. As part of the global Habitat for Humanity network, this organization works tirelessly to improve homeownership opportunities and housing quality in the Milwaukee area. With a mission centered on community development, sustainability, and empowerment, Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity not only constructs new homes but also supports critical home repair projects that enable homeowners to maintain safe and healthy living environments. The organization is committed to social equity and inclusiveness, providing services without discrimination and fostering an atmosphere of equal opportunity for both clients and employees.

The Critical Home Repair Project Coordinator (CHRPC) role is a full-time, Monday through Friday position, with working hours from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm. This hourly, non-exempt job offers a competitive salary ranging from $20 to $23.33 per hour, depending on experience. This role is an essential member of the Home Preservation team, serving as the vital link between homeowners and contractors throughout the construction repair journey. The coordinator’s primary responsibility is to facilitate communication and coordination, ensuring repair projects meet quality standards and are completed efficiently.

The CHRPC develops detailed scopes of work and solicits competitive bids from a vetted network of professional contractors. The ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously is critical, as the team handles between 75 and 125 home repair projects annually. This role demands strong organizational and interpersonal skills to maintain and expand relationships with contractors and partner agencies. Additionally, the coordinator supports families by explaining program processes, reviewing scopes of work and energy audits, and ensuring that the work aligns with client needs and program standards.

Successful candidates will demonstrate a solid understanding of home remodeling and repair practices, contract management, and bid solicitation. Proficiency with computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Excel, and Google products is required to efficiently manage project documentation and communication. Physical capability to handle materials and equipment weighing up to 50 pounds is necessary due to the hands-on nature of the work. The coordinator's ability to foster positive relationships and work with diverse populations is highly valued, contributing to the organization’s inclusive ethos.

Joining Milwaukee Habitat for Humanity provides not only a meaningful career focused on making a tangible difference in the community but also a workplace committed to employee well-being. The organization offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision insurance, life and disability coverage, and retirement savings plans with employer matching. Generous paid time off, paid holidays, and employee assistance programs support work-life balance and personal development.

Overall, the Critical Home Repair Project Coordinator position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a mission-driven environment focused on improving housing stability for families in Milwaukee while advancing professional experience in project coordination, construction management, and community engagement.
