Job Requirements

  • u.s. citizenship is required
  • possess a current valid driver's license
  • carry and use a firearm
  • maintaining firearm proficiency is mandatory
  • be at least age 21 at the time of application and less than age 37 at the time you receive a conditional offer of employment unless you have previous federal law enforcement service
  • obtain a top secret clearance and retain it during your career
  • possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular and corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in the 500,1000 and 2000Hz ranges
  • submit to drug testing pre-appointment and randomly thereafter
  • complete 13 weeks of training at the federal law enforcement training center and 18 weeks at the james j. rowley training center
  • sign a mobility agreement accepting assignments anywhere
  • certify selective service registration or exemption if applicable

Job Qualifications

  • u.s. citizenship
  • valid driver’s license
  • ability to carry and use a firearm
  • obtain and maintain top secret clearance
  • uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular
  • corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in key frequency ranges
  • completion of intensive federal law enforcement training
  • willingness to sign a mobility agreement
  • registration or exemption from selective service if applicable
  • age between 21 and 37 or up to 40 with veteran’s preference

Job Duties

  • providing protection for various protectees
  • conducting criminal investigations pertaining to financial obligations of the United States
  • planning and implementing security designs for national special security events
  • maintaining firearm proficiency
  • accepting assignments anywhere within the United States and overseas
  • participating in ongoing training and professional development
  • cooperating with other law enforcement agencies
