Job Description

Dow Rummel Village is a well-established non-profit Senior Life Plan Community located in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. The role of Server at Dow Rummel Village offers an exciting opportunity for individuals passionate about hospitality and senior care to contribute to a warm and welcoming dining experience. This full-time position requires availability in shifts from 5:30 am to 2 pm and/or 11 am to 7:30 pm, including an every-other-weekend rotation. The pay range for servers is competitive, between $16.14 and $21.22 per hour, depending on experience. Servers will play a crucial role in ensuring residents and guests enjoy excellent culinary service in the restaurant or deli. Key responsibilities include greeting guests warmly, managing multiple tables during busy hours, and delivering orders accurately while maintaining safe food handling practices. Servers also support the kitchen staff by assisting with meal preparation and presentation, which helps uphold the high standards set by the community.

This position requires not only a professional and upbeat attitude but also the ability to multitask effectively in a fast-paced environment. The Server will also assist with catering services when necessary, adding an additional dimension of service to special events and group dining experiences. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Prior food service experience preferred
  • Experience using POS system preferred
  • Ability to work weekends, evenings, and some holidays
  • Professional appearance and conduct
  • Strong communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and remain calm under pressure

Job Duties

  • Greet guest as they sit down or enter the deli, take their drink and food orders, and deliver those orders as requested by the customer
  • Assist the general restaurant and deli staff by performing opening and closing duties as dictated by the timing of your shift and checklists
  • Remain knowledgeable of the deli and restaurant’s menu and specials to explain them effectively to customers
  • Communicate with kitchen staff to ensure orders are sent out as requested
  • Ensure that all orders are input into the point of sale (POS) system accurately and close out accurately
  • Manage multiple tables at once during busier hours of operation
  • Maintain safe food handling practices while preparing and serving food
  • Assist cooks as needed
  • Prepare salads, desserts, sandwich items as needed to help the restaurant back of the house teams and ensure appropriate availability of items in the deli
  • Store, date, and label usable food items for future use
  • Ensure deli and other areas per work check lists and assignment are maintained and stocked appropriately
  • Deliver food orders as requested
  • Perform other duties as assigned
