This position is for the role of Courier/Swing Driver/Non-DOT-7 within FedEx. This role is a key operational function in which the employee operates company vehicles to perform regular delivery and pickup of packages efficiently and courteously in adherence to FedEx established service standards. The position is classified as a non-DOT safety-sensitive role, which requires strict compliance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety regulations and company policy 4-48. This job offers starting pay at $23.42 per hour, with scheduled work primarily Monday through Friday with varying hours. The role demands maintaining a neat appearance and strong customer service skills as the driver interacts directly with customers during service.
The Courier/Swing Driver is responsible for executing all routes assigned within the station's service area, providing critical coverage and ensuring the timely movement of shipments. Duties include checking shipments for compliance with FedEx service features, assisting customers with service needs, and performing related administrative and operational tasks as required. The work requires physical fitness to lift up to 50 pounds and safely handle heavier packages using appropriate equipment or assistance. Superior navigation skills and area knowledge are essential for route efficiency and safety. The role requires the candidate to have at least six months of courier experience, or equivalent, and to hold and maintain a valid driver’s license conforming to state requirements for the assigned vehicle type.

Job Requirements

- must obtain and maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with state requirements for the type of vehicle assigned
- must have a good driving record as outlined in policy
- six months courier experience preferred
- good human relations and verbal communication skills
- thorough knowledge of the station’s service area preferred
- ability to lift 50 lbs
- ability to maneuver packages of any weight above 50 lbs with appropriate equipment or assistance
- must be at least 21 years of age
- ability to read and speak English sufficiently to understand traffic signs and communicate with traffic safety officials
- neat appearance
- meet and maintain qualifications outlined in federal motor carrier safety regulations
- ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner
