The Route Driver/Courier Floater role based in Santa Clara, California, is vital to supporting on-site client operations by ensuring the safe, accurate, and timely delivery of mail and parcels across campus locations. This position requires adherence to strict chain-of-custody standards and operational excellence to maintain SPS’s service quality. The ideal candidate is reliable, detail-oriented, and professional with the ability to work independently. Equipped with strong organizational skills and a customer service mindset, the Route Driver/Courier Floater navigates a predefined courier route via company vehicle, handling scheduled pickups and deliveries with precision and maintaining detailed logs and time stamps for all items processed. This role entails operating company vehicles safely under state and company regulations, performing routine vehicle maintenance, and ensuring cleanliness and readiness for daily operations. In addition to courier duties, the position offers cross-functional support by providing backup coverage for office services, assisting with shipping and receiving procedures, validating packing slips, and training substitute personnel. The job emphasizes delivering 5-star customer service, maintaining professionalism in communication, and proactively seeking additional tasks during downtime to support seamless service continuity. Job Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Current state-issued driver's license with a clean driving record
  • Ability to safely operate a company motor vehicle
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multitask and work independently
  • Basic computer proficiency and ability to learn required systems
  • Professional appearance and adherence to company policies

Job Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of MFD equipment preferred
  • Experience with shipping and receiving procedures preferred
  • Familiarity with validating packing slips and handling materials accurately preferred

Job Duties

  • Travel a predefined courier route via company vehicle to deliver mail and parcels
  • Perform scheduled pick-ups and deliveries by accurately following maps and written instructions
  • Maintain detailed logs and time stamps for all items received and delivered
  • Support chain-of-custody requirements in accordance with operating procedures
  • Respond to client requests accurately and ensure timely order fulfillment
  • Complete all required paperwork in a timely, accurate, and legible manner
  • Operate company vehicles safely and in compliance with state and company standards
  • Follow company protocol in the event of an accident and/or injury
  • Maintain vehicle condition through routine servicing
  • Ensure vehicle cleanliness and readiness for daily operation
  • Deliver 5-star customer service in all forms of communication
  • Follow operational service excellence performance standards
  • Build professional relationships with customers and internal teams
  • Maintain professionalism and composure when handling sensitive inquiries
  • Determine when additional support is required for complex requests
  • Proactively seek additional work during downtime
  • Provide front- or back-office coverage as needed
  • Assist with shipping and receiving procedures
  • Validate packing slips for accuracy of incoming and outgoing materials
  • Train backup personnel and provide guidance on policies and procedures
