Airgas is currently hiring a Counter Sales Representative for its Anaheim, California retail location. This role offers a competitive wage range of $19-$24 per hour, with additional bonus opportunities, and a Monday through Friday schedule with no weekend work required. The Counter Sales Representative at Airgas plays a pivotal role in combining energetic customer interaction with essential operational support in a dynamic industrial environment. This position involves partnering directly with customers to supply industrial, medical, and specialty gases, welding equipment, and other critical supplies. The associate acts as a trusted advisor, guiding customers on selecting the proper tools, hardware, and materials necessary to complete their projects efficiently and successfully. Furthermore, the representative demonstrates equipment use and shares product quality insights, enabling customers to pioneer innovative solutions within their workspaces.

Additional responsibilities encompass adherence to safety policies, execution of accurate transaction paperwork, management of order entry and deposit reconciliation, and coordination of merchandise transfers between locations. The role includes fostering a positive, supportive work atmosphere by maintaining strong communication and relationships with customers, vendors, and colleagues. Representatives are also tasked with maintaining showroom displays and organizing inventory to enhance the overall customer experience. Exceptional customer service skills and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced setting are paramount, alongside the capability to operate within a drug-free workplace environment.

Job Qualifications

  • HS diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum of 2 plus years of experience in product warehouse or sales environments or equivalent combination of education and unique life experience
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to thrive in a fast paced setting
  • Experience in industrial retail inside sales or inventory control is a plus
  • Attention to detail in handling transactions
  • Availability for occasional overtime
  • Must be able to operate in a drug free workplace
  • Background in gas welding or safety supplies is a wonderful asset
  • Familiarity with SAP Google or MS Office applications
  • Ability to communicate clearly and warmly with a wide variety of people from different backgrounds

Job Duties

  • Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and the use of personal protective equipment to ensure a secure environment for everyone
  • Provides excellent customer service to both internal and external partners fostering understanding and long-term relationships
  • Ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed including coding costing and pricing
  • Partners with customers to identify the best tools and procedures for their specific tasks and demonstrates equipment use to build customer confidence
  • Manages order entry and processes transactions and assists the team with the reconciliation of deposits
  • Coordinates via phone email and in person with customers and team members to provide helpful information on costs and delivery
  • Contributes to an outgoing call strategy to support the continued growth and success of the branch
  • Coordinates the transfer of merchandise between locations to meet customer needs
  • Maintains a positive work atmosphere by acting and communicating in a supportive manner with customers vendors and colleagues
  • Stocks shelves and maintains welcoming showroom displays to provide an excellent customer experience
  • Coordinate cylinder movement and pallet organization
