Situated in Philadelphia, PA, the Airgas retail store is currently seeking a dedicated Counter Sales Representative to join their team. This full-time, Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM role is designed for individuals who thrive in fast-paced, customer-focused environments and who enjoy balancing high-energy customer interactions with meaningful operational tasks. The position offers an opportunity to work closely with customers, helping them select the appropriate products, such as industrial, medical, and specialty gases and welding equipment, to meet their project needs effectively and safely.
As a Counter Sales Representative, you will act as a trusted advisor and problem solver, guiding customers through the selection and use of tools, hardware, and materials. Your role is crucial in helping customers achieve success in their projects by demonstrating equipment usage and sharing insights regarding product quality. Moreover, responsibilities include ensuring compliance with company policies and safety regulations by enforcing the use of personal protective equipment, accurately processing transactions, managing order entries, and coordinating merchandise transfers across locations.
This role demands excellent communication skills for coordinating with both internal team members and customers via phone, email, and in person to provide timely information on costs, deliveries, and product availability. You will also contribute to the branch’s growth by supporting an outgoing call strategy and maintaining welcoming showroom displays and well-organized inventory spaces. Customer service is at the heart of this position, requiring a positive work atmosphere and long-term relationship building with customers, vendors, and coworkers.

Job Duties
- Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and personal protective equipment use
- provides excellent customer service to internal and external partners
- ensures accurate completion of paperwork including coding, costing, and pricing
- partners with customers to identify best tools and procedures and demonstrates equipment use
- manages order entry and transaction processing and assists with deposit reconciliation
- coordinates communication with customers and team members regarding costs and delivery
- contributes to outgoing call strategy to support branch growth
- coordinates merchandise transfers between locations
- maintains positive work atmosphere by supporting customers, vendors, and colleagues
- stocks shelves and maintains showroom displays
- coordinates cylinder movement and pallet organization
