We are currently hiring a Counter Sales Representative for our Hillsboro, Oregon location on SE Baseline. This position offers a competitive hourly wage ranging from $22 to $26.22 plus opportunities for bonuses. The role operates during regular business hours from Monday to Friday, with no weekend work required. Due to the safety-sensitive nature of the position, candidates must pass a pre-employment drug screening.
As a Counter Sales Associate, the successful candidate will act as a trusted partner to our customers by providing essential industrial, medical, and specialty gases along with welding equipment and related supplies. This role requires an energetic individual who enjoys solving problems and building customer relationships in a dynamic setting. You will advise customers on the best tools, hardware, and materials for their projects while demonstrating proper equipment use and sharing expert insights on product quality.
Responsibilities will include ensuring adherence to company safety policies, delivering excellent customer service, managing accurate paperwork including pricing and coding, coordinating order entries and transactions, and contributing to the growth and success of the branch through outbound call campaigns. The role also involves coordinating merchandise transfers and maintaining an inviting showroom environment. Job Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum 2 years of experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments or equivalent combination of education and unique life experience
- excellent customer service skills
- experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus
- attention to detail in transactions
- availability for occasional overtime
- must operate in a drug-free workplace
- ability to work Monday through Friday without weekend work
- must pass pre-employment drug screening
Job Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- minimum of 2 years experience in product, warehouse, or sales environments or equivalent combination of education and life experience
- excellent customer service skills
- familiarity with industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control
- attention to detail in handling transactions
- ability to communicate clearly with diverse individuals
- knowledge of SAP and PROS functionalities preferred
- ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- experience with gas, welding, or safety supplies preferred
Job Duties
- Responsible for adherence to company policies including safety and use of personal protective equipment
- provides excellent customer service to internal and external partners
- ensures all required paperwork is accurately completed including coding, costing, and pricing
- partners with customers to identify best tools and procedures and demonstrates equipment use
- manages order entry and processes transactions
- coordinates via phone, email, and in person with customers and team members
- contributes to an outgoing call strategy for branch growth
- coordinates transfer of merchandise between locations
- maintains a positive work atmosphere with customers, vendors, and colleagues
- stocks shelves and maintains showroom displays
- coordinates cylinder movement and pallet organization
